Updated 2024.02.27. Finally was in Anchorage and able to visit the restaurant to check out this place for their dim sum on weekends only. It's a fairly small business with the father holding down the restaurant with help from family members to keep the business open.
Look at their dim sum menu, check out their daily specials on the board, look at what's on display as you walk by the counter and take and make notes of what might be appealing.
Try their chicken feet if you're willing to be out of your comfort zone. The flavors absorbed by the chicken feet and the effort required to eat this is worth the effort for me as I'm accustomed to this and the taste is worth it for the effort. It's mainly the gelatinous skin filled with the seasoning that makes it quite tasty.
Sticky rice filled with bits of meat wrapped in lotus leaf and steamed as another tasty treat with lotus leaf parting it's taste into the sticky rice. Buy some extra to take home.
Steamed Xiu mai were alright, but not exceptional.
The beef balls were velvetized, making them much softer to eat than if they weren't.
The steamed rice rolls with shrimp covered with a sweet soy sauce is best eaten immediately when it arrives at the table. The rice roll is still hot and delicately soft. The shrimp I thought was a bit overcooked as it was being a bit tough as being more delicately soft.
Their flat rice noodles with gravy wasn't what I was expecting and didn't like it as much. They make another version which is dry which I would have wanted to taste instead.
The baked Chinese BBQ pork rolls was another nice little treat with a flaky crust.
The flakey Custard Tart was really nice, don't bother with the other version with a harder crust and sweeter filling.
The fruit tart was also excellent, but the custard filling was sweeter than I care for.
Don't be in a rush if you come here, be relaxed and allow yourself and them the time to fill out your order. This is a good place to get together with friends or family, sit, relax, chat, eat, enjoy your time and food together here.
Come early so you won't be disappointed of running out of dim sum items...
Read moreGreat little authentic Dim Sum/Chinese food place! My girlfriend and I were in the mood for dim sum so I did a quick Google search in my area. We were thinking Jimmy's which is around the same area but we were there for dinner the previous night and weren't super impressed so I decided to look for other options. I'm very glad we did because it brought us to this little hidden gem! Emphasis on hidden because the location is attached to the left side of a building down a wide alley and not on a main road. The interior is very nicely decorated, bright, and welcoming though.
I ordered a bunch of stuff off the dim sum menu and it was all amazing. I love their simplified approach to dim sum; it isn't an overwhelming number of options like you might see at other places but it has all the greatest hits like the pork buns (my favorite btw, it was nice and fluffy, fresh and flavorful), Xiu Mai, and rice noodle rolls. We got a pot of delicious tea too ofc (wouldn't be dim sum without some comforting hot 🍵) but the only bad part is that they ran out of pineapple buns 😭. I don't really mind too much though cuz it gives us something else to look forward to when we return!
It feels like a more modernized version of dim sum which I really appreciated as an older millennial myself who has been to many traditional (aunties who call you good looking) dim sum places. The owner is super nice and from Hong Kong originally. It still has that cozy family vibe but I wish all the success for them and hope they make it big because I want one of these in every major...
Read moreThe previous google reviews seemed promising but I was quite disappointed when I ate here, especially given the prices. The chicken feet did not taste like typical dim sum chicken feet at all (and the dark brownish cover deviates from the typical bright red-brown color of usual chicken feet dim sum). The roast duck with rice was mediocre at most and dry. The stirfry flat noodles with vegetable and pork were ok and probably the best thing we had out of what we ordered, but that’s not saying much. The boba and sesame balls weren’t bad.
The service was pretty swift.
To be clear, I understand there aren’t a lot of dim sum/chinese food options in Anchorage so I know the standards for chinese food are lower. However, I definitely disagree with saying that this is better than dim sum in the lower 48 and disagree that it tastes like good chinese food. I would not go back here if I wanted authentic good tasting Chinese/dimsum food. However, if you don’t care about authentic dim sum/chinese tastes, this place...
