Taste of India — Restaurant in Alaska

I've traveled a lot. Having been to Indian restaurants in different countries and in the US, I can say that this is the lowest of the low. I'm not even trying to be rude because I didn't have any problems with the customer service. They seemed sweet at the restaurant. I was even given paper plates and utensils for takeout. However, the flavor of the food was really bad. I'm writing this as an Indian, not as someone who doesn't understand Indian food and its flavors. Each dish was sweet. We got chicken korma, chicken biryani, butter paneer, butter chicken, and 6 naans. The naan was good, that's the only positive of this outing. Having been hungry since the afternoon, we didn't expect to find pineapple and grapes in chicken biryani. This is appalling. Since when are fruits a part of chicken biryani, or in fact, any biryani? The base of each dish was exactly the same in flavor. The korma had pineapple as well! What in the world is going on? Who said Indian dishes should have fruits mixed into them? I felt like I was consuming a fruit salad, rather than proper food. This was hard earned money, completely wasted. Even though we ate, we were not satisfied at all, simply because this was not authentic Indian food at all. This should not be advertised as Taste of India at all. I don't want a response from the owner or manager. I do not want a refund. All I want is improvement from the ownership. All 4 of us eating were heavily disappointed, and having come here from across the country, that should not be the case.

1/5. Please add flavor to your food, not just...

First time here and i ordered to go. I feel that if i order to go they should double check everything is in the bag. Unfortunately they forgot the naan. I called and told them i was told they would refund it but they forgot that too. Not surprised honestly.

Let's start off with the portions are good. I got 3 dishes. The palak paneer, Chicken tikka masala and the potato dish that i forgot the name of.

To be honest i wasn't a fan of the palak paneer, which happens to be my favorite dish. Ive had it better in other places. The chicken tikka masala was good but it tastes like tomato basil soup. I feel like some of the spices were missing. The potato dish was delicious! My favorite. I hadn't had it anywhere else to compare it to. I may give this place another try and try dishes i haven't before.

Update: Checked my account and they have refunded the naan. I have raise my two start review to 3. I may come back to dine in and see if anything changes

We ordered the palak paneer and the chicken Tikka masala, it was way better than the first time and this time we got the naan and they did give us extra which took me by surprise when they remembered that they told us they would when...

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

My husband and I came here on a whim, having never eaten at an Indian restaurant before. It's a quaint restaurant with a warm and welcoming feel upon entering. There are touches of India throughout the restaurant, from the art to the music videos playing on the television.

We told our waiter that it was our first time and he went to go get the manager, Jaed. The manager came out and was SO friendly and kind. He described all of the most popular dishes, drinks, and desserts, and what they were made of. He also gave us his recommendations, as we wanted to try an appetizer, main course, dessert, and their drinks (all non-alcoholic). When they delivered each course, a description and how to eat it was given, as well as a check-in to see how we liked it. Every single item we ordered was phenomenal!! The spices and the spice were there, the joy, the happy dance... everything!! We left very full and very happy with leftovers to spare.

Even after ordering everything we ordered, we paid less than $80. It was an amazing experience with amazing food. Needless to say, this is now one of our favorite restaurants, and we will definitely be coming back.
