This place has a ton of potential. Unfortunately, my first impression of the place was met with a scene of what looked like a manager or owner trying to handle a performance issue with an employee. The manager was trying to hold the conversation with the employee standing in the doorway of his black suburban. It seemed like he was trying to deescalate the situation but I couldn't help but feel bad for the employee. My advice would be to try to have those conversations with an unbiased third person who could serve as a mediator or witness to ensure the safety of both parties while in a more private space like an office or something. Anyway, I went in for a bite to eat despite that since the place seemed to have a high rating. The omelette I had was not awesome. Could be preference but I like my omelettes with fluffier eggs and where the ingredients stick to the egg instead of tumbling away when taking a bite. The staff were friendly enough, the place looked kind of cool but as soon as I went to the bathroom it was confirmed to me that the place wasn't managed well. I was in the restaurant within 30 minutes of opening and the toilet seat was covered in urine. The electrical panel in there was cracked open for some reason with some weird apparatus hooked up outside of it. So I went to another cafe to use a restroom. I hope things turn around for this place because, like I said, it has a ton of potential to be a great place to eat!

This was a serious disappointment considering I’ve only heard good things about the place . I ordered the blue cheese burger and chicken ceaser salad to go. Service went smoothly and friendly staff. The problem was when I got home and assembled my burger I was greeted with what seemed like a hockey puck (My fiancé tried and spat it out, not sure why my dumb self decided to try as well) and Color and texture. I then tried the salad … equally disappointing. Romaine seemed fresh enough but what a terrible dressing . Tasted old and stale . Like plastic. I called to let them know and they were nice enough to offer a remake , but my fiancé decided against it. Could’ve been a one time thing , but a one time experience we won’t forget . Sorry to the waitresses as the service was warm and welcoming

This was our first stop on our first morning in Anchorage—just a short walk from our Airbnb—and it hit all the right notes. Jackie’s Place feels like stepping back in time in the best way possible. Cozy, welcoming, and clearly a local favorite. The menu is massive, and everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. I went with the country scramble, and it was exactly what I hoped it would be: hearty, flavorful, and generously portioned. Just good, honest comfort food done right. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive without rushing. I could tell this place runs on pride and regulars. I’m already thinking about what I’ll try next time. Old-school charm, great food, warm vibe—

Poor management is all I can say. I was flabbergasted by how unwelcoming this place was on what was a wonderful afternoon today. One of the customers who witnessed how poorly I was handled by the blonde lady in the middle of the photo above, had to walk out of the restaurant just to check on me. I was not surprised by how unwelcoming the rest of the servers were, considering how the blonde lady treated me. I am still in shock by the lack of professionalism and customer service. And the sad part of it all was that I was truly looking forward to eating at this place as a first time customer. Please, call Gordon Ramsay.

She also took a picture of me outside of her restaurant without my approval after she dismissed me and ALL of the concerns I had approached to her regarding the unwelcoming customer service I've experienced thus far and mind you I have not even taken a seat. After being talked down so rudely by her, I finally understood the root of the problem as to why the servers behaved that way that they did. I have NEVER felt so attacked and violated. I guess this is what it is like to experience racism first hand. The picture you see of her smiling was not the person I met today. And maybe she was having a bad day who knows? But I certainly did NOT deserve to be treated poorly by her.

After posting on their Facebook page this was their response: I called APD and sent them your photo. To assume my place is racist before even dining there was completely inaccurate. Hope your day got better. It’s not ok to stand outside of a business and tell people of an experience that you had when you walked in with all intention of being an issue. Mind the fact also that you spoke with my “black “ employee as you described him Outside and wanted to be sure he worked there before you stepped foot in the door. I do not discriminate. At all. I do not appreciate people that feel they should be treated “ better or different”. Also, to point at my employees and tell me they are no good isn’t ok either.

I responded in kind: I used to be a manager at Johnny Chicago and we all know that the number one rule of restaurant customer service is that the customers are always right. And the fact that you chose to be argumentative and make me seem like I am the bad guy instead of rectifying the situation is why I WILL NEVER COME BACK. Thank you for your time and good luck with...

The food was good, but the wait time for the food was longer than expected. It took 50 mins for the food to come out after ordering. Understandable on the weekend, but in the meantime our server did not check in or top off on water. A lovely couple who came in at least 10 mins after us got their food and started eating for 15 mins before we realized it’s taking very long for our food. It wasn’t until we asked, Kulia, our server, about order that we received attention for her. Kulia brought out the food and explained that it takes longer to make the food on the weekend. This state would have been acceptable if the other server didn’t announce to everyone that “this placed slowed down quick”. So the pace has slowed down, but we were not getting our food. It was a little disheartening to see her joke and ask other customers if they wanted to end their meals with pancakes, but for her to ignore us. She dropped off the ticket at the table and didn’t ask if we needed anything else. I spoke to Kulia at check out and told her about my feelings about the service and her response was “okay” with some attitude. I don’t typically write bad reviews, but this experience was not very fun. Jackie’s place is delicious, but I will choose service over food, especially because it’s the people that makes the environment warm...
