Been here too many times to count. It's close to where I reside. Usually really impressed with the quality and price. Today I went in for two lunch specials. It was at a slower time. I didn't have enough cash-money. They don't take debit, so I had to pay two dollars in quarters. The specials, this time. seriously upsetting. Portions were undoubtedly smaller. As well as the Beans seemed watered down and tasteless. I felt my partial payment resulted in shrunken servings. My visits to Oscar's, I've always tipped and I keep it simple. Thought being a "regular" I wouldn't experience a down grade on quality but more important, on consistency. All in all, I adore this place. Spread the word like a Mormon, and I will continue to dine...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe best Mexican food in Anchorage for half the price of a sit down restaurant. Things to keep in mind: Oscar's caters to the working class folks in the area who are looking for a quick breakfast or lunch. They aren't open for dinner. They don't have seating, it's take out only. They only accept cash. At the prices they're charging, I don't blame them one bit for not wanting to donate 2-5% of every sale to a bank for the "privilege" of processing credit cards. They have a good selection of bottled and canned soft drinks.
I've been eating here for over 10 years and will keep coming back. It's easily the best food value...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSimply the best burrito in Anchorage and one of the top 5 I have had in my life, and I have eaten a lot of them. The type of mexican food I love is the kind from little success and shacks. Not so much restaurant. This is definitely my type of food.
What makes these so good: -The beans. Perfectly cooked, perfectly flavored. I could eat just the beans and be happy. My wife loves them too. -The sauce/salsa in the burrito. Nice flavor and salted perfectly. So good. Especially on the breakfast burrito. -The size - just right. -Fair price.
Thank you! ...
