I was their occasional customer; I love their donuts and support local businesses. But this time, it was a big mistake and disappointment. I placed an order three days before for an event, and the pick-up location was in Eagle River. Here's what I received: pick-up would be available on Tuesday at 1 pm, so I ordered this on Sunday, obviously for the upcoming Tuesday. I got there 5 minutes early, and they said they didn't have any donuts. Then I called the store and asked what time the donuts would be there, and she told me that they only deliver once a month, every fourth Tuesday, which would be on the 28th, and that's way too long to wait and the 28th of Tuesday wasn’t on the receipt which it needs to be fix. Since I had ordered it for an event, I told the lady that I would pick it up at the Anchorage location. I drove 30 minutes, got there, waited for 10 minutes, and oh boy, when I got home and opened the box, it was only filled with 4 flavors! The order I placed included pineapple, guava, Nutella, lemon, plain, coconut, and churro, which is like 7+ flavors of 20 donuts. I was so disappointed. I thought they knew what they were doing, knew what the customers' orders were. Big mistake, ALWAYS ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK WITH WHOEVER IS MAKING YOUR ORDER TO MAKE SURE...
Read moreWhile the malasadas are wonderful, the service needs work. Perhaps a lot of work. Ordered a dozen for curbside pickup. Arrived ten minutes early with the intention to wait and just happened to notice a box of a dozen sitting at pick up. I jokingly thought to myself, "It would be great if that's our order." Fast forward to ten minutes after the pick up time and we've heard nothing. Try to call but get a busy signal. Call back thinking I might get through. It rang. They picked up and immediately hung up the phone without answering. Okay, mistakes happen. Call again. They pick up and immediately hang up without answering again. Tried a third time. Same result. Finally decide I have to go in to ask about the delay. Walk in, tell them who I am, and they direct me to the box of a dozen that has been sitting at pick up since I arrived.
This utter lack of customer service is a problem. The contempt shown by repeatedly hanging up on customers is inexcusable. It's a shame because I thought we'd found our new favorite place. Instead, I doubt I'll...
Read moreI did not expect to find our favorite Hawaiian treat in Anchorage, and definitely wasn't expecting it to be as good as Leonard's in Honolulu. But I was pleasantly surprised! The pastry itself was sinful, nice and light and airy with a generous coating of sugar. I found the coconut filling a little disappointing. They told me upfront it was not a traditional Hawaiian haupia, but more of a coconut cream, which it was. And as much as I love coconut, I would have preferred haupia. Next up was the guava. OMG! It was incredible! I wish I would have gotten a dozen of those!! I also tried the featured flavor, the POG, and it was just ok. My husband enjoyed his blueberries and cream. On our return trip through Anchorage we had our order all figured out only to find out they were closed on Mondays!! 😭 Overall, very ono, highly...
