We have been going to this Applebees since we moved to Albany Oregon, four years ago. We generally go for the Happy Hour to get a couple of orders of boneless wings with our favorite sauces on the side, while my Husband always gets a double French Onion Soup, I sometimes get a regular single French Onion soup. It's some of the best around. Our favorite waiter Lloyd knows what we always order and makes sure it comes out correctly and in a timely fashion. When he isn't working our experience doesn't always go so smoothly, but we manage. Tonight was the worst ever. Our favorite waiter wasn't working and after giving our waitress our order; two ice teas, two regular french onion soups and two Thai Shrimp Salads, we proceded to wait and wait and wait. We got our ice teas pretty quickly, but waited 25 minutes for two French Onion Soups that were sooo overcooked that there were wet onions only in the bottom of the bowl an a piece of soggy bread with cheese melted to a crisp on top. When bringing it to our waitress' attention, she offered to bring us some more broth right away. 15 minutes later, the Manager brought two bowls of onions in broth to our table and explained that the soup was a measured portion and always absorbed into the bread... We've had it before, It's never been that way. But we thanked her and ate the two hot soups. She came and took away the bowls saying our salads would be right out. 20 minutes later, we left after watching the Manager and our original waitress (who never came back to our table, by the way) waiting on new customers and existing customers in a friendly and efficient way, with other food coming out of the kitchen. No one ever came back or said a word to us for 20 minutes. After being loyal Customers for 4 years, we will never go back. We will miss our favorite waiter Lloyd, who is the best thing about that restaurant - a total professional with excellent interpersonal and customer...
Read moreI do not like leaving negative reviews but our experience last night was so terrible. People go out to eat to have a joyous experience with family and friends so it is the management’s responsibility to ensure that happens for guests in which I found shocking this manager didn’t care by any means to accommodate that for any guests. As my children and I waited she stood up front talking with other hosts about their day and bad mouthing other guests. As tables sat dirty with dishes and a line of people waiting. An elderly woman walked out and as she passed the manager who didn’t even find it appropriate to open the door for the lady walking with a cane the older woman looked at her and said “horrible service I will not be back!” My kids even chuckled because we found it comical that the manager just looked at her with a nod! After we were finally seated my son ordered endless wings that he had his heart set on with just having basketball practice and now a big appetite! When the food arrived our food was cold!! The server did ask if we wanted to get his second round of wings going! 30 mins later with no check back, no refills, our wings still didn’t arrive! I found another server after looking and no one around with restaurant full of guests told server I would like to get a to go box with the wings we ordered over half hour ago! Thankfully our server did come with wings and a box apologized that she had to beg the kitchen to make her food. She never left a check or a tablet to pay so I figured out cost on my own and left cash at the able as there was still no one around to pay.
I am sure the excuse is they are under staffed and under paid… in theory we go out to eat to have a joyous experience with our family and friends and it is up to management to ensure that happens! So focused on labor costs and revenue that they usually don’t care about...
Read moreI've never made a review on a restaurant before but today, on my wife and I's first anniversary, I feel I must. I am not sure if Applebees gives napkins and utensils on To Go and Delivery orders but this is the second time in a row now that I have received none. That's the first part, so if this is a commonality and I am in the wrong for bringing this to light then I take responsibility. As you can see on the third and fourth pictures attached of GrubHub and Applebees' web pages, the Chicken Tenders Platter comes with cole slaw And french fries. On our order (second picture), I wanted the cole slaw substituted. The first picture is of my food, with a subtraction sign next to "slaw" and the word "Fry" being by itself. To me, and again I could be wrong, it is a subtraction sign because the order was for there to be no cole slaw. There was no mention in my order for the fries to be taken off and, since the platter comes with cole slaw and fries, it should have came with fries without me mentioning them. My biggest complaint is about my wife's food, 8 oz top sirloin, being cold. I'm not posting a picture of my wife's food because I cant prove her food being cold through a picture. I dont really care about fries not being on the order and only bring them, the lack of utensils, and napkins, being missing to show a trend leading to my last complaint. We ordered our food at 5:25pm with a set delivery, meaning there was ample time to ensure food/order preparation, of 6:45pm. We received our order during the timeframe of 6:45pm and 6:55pm, as stated on the second picture, and you can see the text correspondence in the fifth picture showing a message at 6:34pm stating that our order was on it's way. I see a failure in attention to detail on both Grubhub and Applebees' parts. Regardless, this is why people should reconsider pre-tipping before...
