The first time I visited This restaurant I was amazed the food was good They had just reopened after the COVID quarantine so not a big crowd. They were very expensive so I knew it would be a once in a while thing for me. Well today for lunch I decided that I had a taste for their salad. I ordered ahead. When I got there they were full. There were two ladies ahead of me and they politely let me know to go ahead of them because they were waiting for their order. But there was no one at the register so I just waited. There was a man off to the side chatting to some customers at a table not taking an order or anything just talking...and he saw me when I came in because we made eye contact. He asked the ladies ahead of me if they had been helped and when they said yes he went back to talking and ignored me. After about 5 mins a family walked in which immediately prompted the man to walk over to the register and asked if I had been helped. I told him no... let him know I was picking up an order and Gave him my name. He searched through the orders where he found mine and acted like he wasn’t sure it was mine when my name was clearly displayed. FYI I’m an African American women ... everyone else that I listed where all Caucasian. I’m Hurt and angry and as good as the food is I will not...

Absolutely perfect! Wish there was a six star option! Let me get down to basics..

Atmosphere: 6 stars. Debbie, the owner, and her husband Tim have contracted some brilliant minds to create a motif that is straight out of a country living spread! Everything is gorgeous and well thought out! Function follows form and creates a esthetic that is both pleasing and remarkable to behold.

Service: 6 stars. We were served by Becca who was astounding but let me get back to that... I arrived thinking that I was trailing the rest of my group of five... So I had a chance to meander around the premises. In doing so I was pleasantly created by employee after employee smiling and asking how they could be of service. I eventuay realized the rest of my party were detoured, but by this time I was already seated at a table with the appropriate number of menus and ice water from a pitcher. By the time the party arrived 5 minutes later, we already had an appitizer on the table! Fantastic service! Becca was not only good but she was a precog, anticipating our needs.

Food: 6 stars. Once in a while you come a cross a restaurant that does different good. This is one of them! Please try the pomento cheese pita dip! Everything I tried was delicious and beautifully plated!

Summery:...

When asked what food I like and I answered "fresh"! The Bread House was recommended. I loved the atmosphere, fresh delicious food, helpful wait staff. I got to talk to the owner! The restaurant was in downtown Albany. I wasn't expecting a new large brick building with a welcoming entrance. They really thought out the the interesting relaxing seating and tables. The decoration is fun from corrugated siding to large spools to put out their freshly milled flour cookies 9.00 for a dozen cookies. Flavored popcorn, blueberry breakfast bars. The grill closes at 3:00 pm. Biggest seller is their brisket and freshly ground chuck.I ordered the Tuscan chicken, mozzarella, lettuce tomato on a potato bun. You have a choice of sides. Soup, chips, salad and rotini pasta. Half and half ice tea and to top it off S'mores bread pudding. The spice on the chicken was so tasty and cooked to perfection. The rotini salad was delish. Just the right amount of oil and spice to taste. The bread pudding tasted sweet but not too sweet. It melted in my mouth. The sweet tea was perfect. I really enjoyed my meal. I paid for my meal in the center of the store and picked out 2 types of cookies to take home fresh out of the oven. Happy I went and will...

Found this place while working in Albany. I’m really glad they are here. There just aren’t that many nice places to eat in downtown Albany. The atmosphere and service are great. My server paid the perfect amount of attention, refilling drinks and checking if everything was good. I wanted the house burger and asked if they could put pepper jack cheese as I saw another burger comes with it. Nope. But that’s ok I really like a good pimento cheese burger so I went with that. The toasted bun was great, the fries were great, the burger…. It was missing some seasoning. It just needed something as simple as salt and pepper and it would have been great. I was also a little disappointed with the pimento cheese. They did melt it, which is a big plus. Many places put it on cold and serve it. The problem is, there just wasn’t enough. One or two bites where it was a little thicker, it tasted good. But honestly I couldn’t taste the pimento cheese for most the burger because it was such a thin layer. That being said, I will for sure make this one of my regular stops when I return to Albany.

As much as I wanted this to be a 5 star experience, our second visit was not as epic as the first! The good--my husband's chicken salad wrap was just as delicious as the first visit and the homemade chips are crispy and tasty. The not-so-good-- my candied bacon BLT on sourdough bread was lackluster with one redemption--the bread was delicious; soft with a crispy crust and enticing enough to keep me from ditching the sandwich! The candied bacon was cold, chewy, and shared a characteristic with the lettuce and tomato--sparsity! For the price, the sandwich had little filling, but that bread was tasty! Now, the bowl of corn chowder we shared the first visit was creamy and filled with potatoes, corn, and sausage--I think. This visit it was like a broth-thin and VERY few ingredients! It did, however, have a nice taste. This doesn't mean we won't go back--we will, to give their Fall menu a try! I also enjoyed a chocolate chip cookie and a great iced coffee the first visit, so they are definitely worth breaking some bread with!
