Cool Scoops — Restaurant in Albany

So, I’m usually not one to post these, but this is ridiculous.. my aunt Dawn and I went to Cool Scoops after being in the hot sun for an hour or so at the park. My Aunt Dawn has a little service dog, Faithe. Sweetest, smallest thing that is super trained. We walked in and the automatic response is the owner telling us “no no no, no dogs in here.” She responded calmly, “oh, she is a servic dog.” Then he continues to say no dogs allowed, she repeated but she is a service dog. Then he asks for proof, so she shows it to him then says “you know I can deny you service because of your attitude.” She wasn’t giving him attitude until he gave her attitude, which is justified due to him not letting us get my daughter ice cream. So we walked out frustrated, Fay gets sad and confused on why we are leaving. So I go back in with her without Dawn and Faithe. As soon as I come in he yells “I’m done arguing!” I said well I’m not here to argue, I am here to get my overheated daughter an ice cream. Then he continues to try to argue to get me to get an attitude so he can tell me he can deny me service. Which he did when I called him and a**hat, which I admit I shouldn’t have but he was antagonizing me. I left before I let him get to me more. Then we went to Freeze on Westover to get ice cream. Never going...

I want to give a shout out to Mike! Me and my daughter stopped in after going to the aquarium across the road to find something to eat as it was after lunch! Well they did not have a lot of food choice, but hey They are an ice cream shop! But Mike was sitting in a chair off to the side when we walked in and he got up immediately and started talking to us like we had known each other our whole lives! It was awesome! He was very friendly and he is very knowledgeable of the area and even though did not get anything at that time, he took his time to help us find a place to get some really good food. So after eating guess where went back to, you got it- Cool Scoops to get my daughter some ice cream, I thanked Mike for all his help being I was not familiar with the area. We talked for a while and more customers started coming in and he did not just treat us with this kindness but every customer that came in. I wish I could have met his brother Eric. And most importantly my daughter loved the ice cream so much we went back a second time...

After visiting the RiverQuarium in Albany, GA, we decided to stop by Cool Scoops, and I’m so glad we did! It’s just a quick walk across the street, making it a perfect spot to cool down—or warm up in spirit. Even though it was a cold day, they were still open, proving that ice cream is a treat for any weather. Who says you can’t have ice cream on a chilly day?

The ice cream was absolutely delicious—red velvet cake and banana pudding flavors were the standouts for me. You can really taste the care they put into their creations. The gentleman who made our cones was super helpful and friendly, which added to the experience. He made great recommendations, and his warm attitude made us feel welcome.
