Driving home after a trip we unexpectedly found ourselves in Albany, GA for the night. An internet search showed we were very near a highly rated coffee shop, so we stopped in for a couple of decaf Americanos to-go next morning (we don’t need a jolt to get going - haha😎). The coffee was well balanced, nice and hot but not lava, rich, not acidic at all. A+ really. Even the cups were great, a nice swirled texture that just felt good in the hand. Everything about Cornerstone was special. The decor was tastefully minimal, bright and welcoming. The tables were beautifully handmade from reclaimed barn wood and contrasted nicely with the white walls and gentle morning light coming in from all the windows. Someone had a good eye for making a space feel both cheerful and relaxing, efficient and clean - things not always easy to bring together. Although a nice hot drink was the purpose for the stop, that was not the best part of our visit to Cornerstone Coffee. Meeting and getting to chat with the owner has to be one of the warmest interactions with a stranger we’ve had in a long, long time. This man is the real deal. We were originally planning to stay the night in Tallahassee, but due to hotels being all booked up, we diverted to Albany. Serendipity? We say no. this is chris perhaps someone thet remember the owner is somebody i never forgot though i have been out of town for awhile. its been a rollercoaster ride but i have moved forward. the kindness showed by the owner of this little awesome coffee shop helped me persevere because he showed me that genuine kindness still exists in this world. the impact this little coffee shop has on its community will probably go unknown because itts biggest contribution to the community does not come in a cup of delicious coffee product which the certainly serve. not the warmth of the coffee but the warmth of their hearts is what makes this place a true gem to the albany community. not something that the owner boasts or even acknowledges. kindness that doesnt need an audience. his kindness is doled out in an almost clandestine matter so as not to bring unwanted attention to those that are receiving and do not want to be picked out . being homeless has so much shame they do not need any more attention btought to it. something this great owner understands. kudos to you thanks for being a great as well as humble human being. your kindness does not go unrecognized. your impacy is heavy and you do...
