Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Albert Lea

On July 20, 2018, at approximately 2:30pm, my husband and I stopped at Applebee's in Albert Lea passing through on our summer vacation. As we walked in, there was one waitress who was walking by the front door and didn't even acknowledge us. No "hi" or greeting whatsoever. We looked around for signage on "wait to be seated" or "please seat yourself" but didn't see any. We saw a booth that was open so we sat down, passed another waitress on the way and still no acknowledgement. We sat for a few minutes, nothing. I decided to use the restroom and on the way there, there were 2 waitress standing at a station (located by the restrooms) talking to each other. I came out and they were still there. I got to my table and asked my husband if someone had came and at least got our drink order yet and he said "nope". A few minutes later a waitress came and cleaned off and wiped the table in the booth next to us and still was completely ignored. We finally noticed that people that had come in after us and were getting menus, water and service. We were there about 15-20 minutes without even a menu, water, nothing. I drove down from Minneapolis to meet my grandparents at the Best Western nearby while they crashed overnight during their cross country trip to Seattle. We decided to eat at Applebee's because of it's proximity to the hotel. Our service was alright- Nick the server was nice but busy so we didn't get served our drinks right away. But he was patient with my finicky grandparents and 1 year old. Jessie, the manager on duty, could tell me daughter was about to go into meltdown mode and offered to hold her while I paid, packed up, etc. Food was ok- but that's pretty much what I always expect from Applebee's. Not good, not bad- just basically something to put in my mouth. However- I'm giving two stars, which I feel is generous, becuase I have been vomitting on and off for a good 4 hours now. I gotta pin it on Applebee's as the only other thing I've eaten today was a protein shake and the only thing coming back up was the three cheese chicken penne. When we arrived we waited nearly 10 minutes to be seated, despite there being nobody in line. Staff just looked at us and kept to their business... nobody greeted us or checked in. After being seated, we waited at the bar for another 8-10 minutes before the bar tender checked in with us, took our drink order and disappeared for a while. We flagged down a different waitress just to get menus after 15 minutes or so. We got an appetizer ordered which surprisingly came out hot and fresh, so we were pleased with this and optimistic that the initial part of our visit was just a fluke (although, it did only come with one dirty plate, for two people to share..??)........... buuuut no. Our waiter clocked out and the manager finally brought our food out to us, after more waiting, and it was cold. I asked if it was supposed to be cold and she said no.. but it felt like it was in the fridge before they brought it out- it was blatantly cold.

Needless to say we took our business elsewhere and do not recommend...
