You’re guaranteed EXCELLENT service. Rick has been there since 1997 and still delivers friendly, fast, and helpful service. It says a lot about a place to keep an employee for such a long time. The iced tea is freshly brewed. The servings are huge. I hadn’t been to Hurricane’s in almost 15 years. It was a place I used to frequent for their Disaster Burritos. There were other locations but I believe this is the only one that still stands. It was awesome to have a delicious breakfast before a flight back to Chicago. I can’t get enough of New Mexican cuisine when I visit Albuquerque. The only reason I didn’t give five stars for the food is the green Chile wasn’t hot enough. Perhaps I should have chosen Christmas 🌶️. The return felt like visiting an old friend. Perhaps because Rick has been a constant, dependable fixture.

My wife and I usually go to Hurricanes for their fantastic breakfasts, but today we had urgent auto activities in the Lomas car repair area, so we stopped by for brunch / lunch – as usual, the food was simply delicious and outstanding! I ordered the Burrito Platter – owner Frank suggested with Carne Asada – and it was absolutely mouth-watering fantastic! My wife ordered the Burrito Supreme with ham and vegetables instead of potatoes (a low-cal diet), and she devoured it more quickly than usual (well, just my observation!). Service was super quick, prices were very good for such large portions, and the old-style diner ambience was quite evocative of The Ol’Days. Definitely highly recommended, especially if you’re on a budget.

This place was Frank’s in the 1950’s... Hurricanes has kept the decor and the drive-in part... but I went on to enjoy the atmosphere. Super friendly staff, although I really didn’t give them a whole lot of time to be too friendly as I was in and out in about 15 minutes! The food was great! And the price? Well they could double their prices and people would still visit their establishment. My huge breakfast burrito smothered in green Chile with a Dr. Pepper as my morning coffee was $6. What? I’ll definitely be back here!

3 strikes and you're out. Been eating here for decades. Regularly since September of 2005. The past few times have been terrible.

My husband and I stopped to eat there before church a few weeks ago. Arrived at 1110am, mass starts a noon. Server promptly took our drink and food order. At 1125 we asked about our coffee and water. "Oh I'm so sorry, I'll get them right now". We ended up leaving at 1145 no drinks no food".

The next week we stopped after church to get limeades, 1 strawberry 1 vanilla. Didn't notice until we drove off that both we vanilla.

Today we stopped for breakfast after mass. Walked in with another couple. We sat down at 835am. The same server from the above instances says "I'll be right with you". 22 minutes later at 857 she came and took our drink order. She brought our drinks and took our order. "I'm guessing you know what you want"? We got our food at 920am. 45 minutes after arriving. The couple that we walked in with, were already done eating and paying their check before we got our food. Before we were done eating, 3 other parties that came in after us were paying their checks and leaving. Not to mention 2 walk-in take out orders. 2 people walked in, placed orders, waited, got their food and left while we waited for our food. Not only was the service bad but I also bit down on something very hard. Looked like a piece of bone, about as big as a small tooth. I did let the server know. She took it to "show it to the cook".

I stopped in last Monday for breakfast, took more than 10 minutes before I was acknowledged, and drink order taken. Ordered my food, was served promptly. Server never came back, wanted more coffee, tried to flag down someone for 10 - 15 minutes. Ignored. There were 3 servers, and restaurant was not busy.

I understand the labor shortage and call in orders. How ever when you see others who came in after you getting served, this is cannot be the excuse. Since the same server was involved in almost all these experiences, I can only conclude that she is incompetent or has something personal against me/us.

It saddens me to say that after all these years I am not going back to Hurricanes. This place has actually been part of my life for more than 40 years, since it was Frank's Drive In back in the 70s. I even worked there when I was in highschool.

At the beginning of this post I said 3 strikes? It's been many more than...

Had friends from out of town visiting who tried to dine here on Sunday (Mother's Day) morning. They ordered simple breakfast burritos and waited over an hour. Over an hour. They asked if it was some subtle racial passive agressor thing as the diner wasn't busy. I assured them ABQ is very diverse and that probably wasn't the reason, but damn... 80 mins later and I had to wonder, too...

Food finally arrived cold AND incorrect. One ordered steak and eggs, but was served ground beef, no eggs and cold. The other had eggs but also cold. Obviously the errors were not discovered until after a bite.

When the server was informed, she only offered that they were short staffed with the manager on the grill. My guests were appalled at the service, the refusal to make things right, not even a lousy 10% off their bill but threats if they didn't pay up - the full price.

Hey, if you're short staffed that's on you, not on your dining guests!

I am mortified after talking up ABQ restaurants. This is not how service should be anywhere, let alone here.

I'm not one for posting bad reviews lightly, but wow - this entire experience was...

I'm so sad to leave this review because I used to love this place, It used to be delicious. For starters The water tasted absolutely horrible. You should probably have that checked out, it tasted like mold. When's the last time you cleaned that soda machine line it came out of? It's Probably making people sick. 🤮🤮🤮 On to the breakfast disaster burrito- yikes a true disaster indeed. The pan fried potatoes tasted like rancid cardboard, with no seasoning at all. The carne adobada was awful, and the chile was lifeless goo, barely any eggs even though they charging extra for them. Whoever is making this food must not eat it, and the waiter somehow knew not to ask how everything was. It was in fact so bad that my son felt the need to call me and tell me it was the worst burrito he's ever had , and he's never done anything like that. We sincerely hope we dont get sick. Disappointing to say the least and won't go back, I've eaten better food...
