The roll I ordered was prepared with different ingredients than what was specified on the menu and online which was a very unpleasant surprise. I would have easily scored Shogun a 4 or possibly even 5 stars however not being accurate to the menu honestly made it a 1 star dining experience so I'm trying to be fair with 3 stars. I think most people, like myself, are reluctant to ask a sushi chef to make exceptions or substitutions on sushi rolls so we look for whatever roll has exactly what we want; therefore when you bite into a roll and taste an ingredient that shouldn't be there its quite frustrating and, in my case, just honestly kind of gross because an ingredient i strongly dislike was added to the roll even though the menu says otherwise. And if you get an ingredient you don't want in your sushi roll the whole meal is basically ruined because you can't pick it out without destroying the whole roll itself because of how sushi is made. Aside from that everything is great. Visually it looked better than other sushi places I've been to in abq. The rice to protein and rice to tempura ratio all looked great I just couldn't enjoy it because after biting into it I realized it contained an unexpected ingredient that I dislike. The restaurant itself was very clean and the staff was pleasant. I'm sure they would have refunded my order or re made it but I didn't want to make an issue out of something that probably isn't a very big deal to most people. In summary, Shogun's discrepancy between what the menu says and what the chef serves turn what would have otherwise been an excellent dining experience...

It was a fun experience! Every time we walk by, my daughter has seen the sushi boat delivery system around the sushi bar, and she's asked to go eat there. It took us forever but we finally took her there for her birthday. We went on a Friday night and it was jam packed! I would always rather go to a restaurant with lots of people than an empty one, so this was actually more of a plus for me. The owner/manager told us it would be about ten minutes, so we walked around Nob Hill and came back. We had a stroller with us for the baby, and there truly was one spot in the whole restaurant where we could put it where it was reasonably out of the way. We got a seat around the sushi bar and ordered a dinner combo, which turned out to not be enough for all four of us (two adults and two small kids). The sushi and miso were good. It was my first time trying sashimi, and it was disappointingly flavorless. Of the 4 varieties we received, only one tasted like much. Next time (and we do plan on going back), I'll skip the combo and order four or five of their inexpensive hand rolls. And I probably wouldn't go back on a Friday night unless the goal is people watching. One last fun aspect was the notes that people were writing on chopstick wrappers and placing on empty sushi boats to send around the table. There were a couple of written conversations going on that way, an inappropriate but hilarious joke, and a few artists like myself were showcasing sketches. Overall, it was an engaging and unique night for an extrovert who doesn't mind tight spaces, and other than the wait, it was fun for...

We were disappointed to say the least. The only reason they got a star from us was because of the sushi chef. The manger is a rude and loud lady who is not welcoming at all so when I asked for the owner she said that he wasn't there and wouldn't give me any way to contact him and we hadn't even been there 10mins. This is not how you run a business. They need new mangament and kitchen staff. The kitchen staff don't wash their hands my husband told me he watched 2 of them walk out without washing their hands.Another time My husband caught them doing some kind of drug deal on the property and another time doing drugs. My husband said he tried to talk to the manger about it but she just told him it was The homeless people. The best thing about this place is the sushi bar and chef he was so nice and we'll groomed, he even washed his hands before making a few sushi items while we waited for our order. I would give the sushi chef 5 stars he was amazing! He is the only reason we get sushi from there and we have been going there for a few months now.

How come the owner only replies to the positive...

Okay, so generally I would never order sushi in a landlocked, desert location. But I was feeling risqué here in Albuquerque. And so, I'm pleasantly happy to report that 4 hours later not only an I not dead, but the food was amazing. 1️⃣ Order the boat / platter thing. It cost $90 bucks and is definitely a 3 person entree. 2️⃣ The grilled eel on the platter is fabulous! The rest also melt in your mouth. 3️⃣ Not sure what is in the Money Balls but it's fried deliciousness. So all in all, immediately impressed by the freshness and selection of the sushi. Wasn't what I was expecting here in the inland desert of New Mexico.

I LOVE this place we have been in ABQ a little over a year and had a horrible time finding a good sushi place. We finally tried this one and fell in love we will never try another at this point. The staff is great and attentive. The sushi chefs like to have fun while giving you a great presentation. The little boats are fun and people often put cute notes on the. Our favorite roll is the Sunrise , it is awesome. The prices are fair too for the quality and quantity. Great gyoza too.
