My husband and I had been there a couple times but it had been about three years since the last time. It was not even close to what we had experienced the last two times. The server was awkward and not very knowledgeable of the menu, they sat us between two LOUD groups even tho I told them it was our anniversary (in the past they were very good about giving you privacy for special occasions) and it took 20 mins for the waiter to come take our order. In past times the captain took our order promptly and he would explain how everything was made and what wine or beer to pair things with so we were looking forward to that. Our appetizer was awful. They litteraly brought us white toast with the ends cut out for our meats and cheese tray. My smoked duck pasta was swimming in sauce and some might think that's a good thing but it's NOT. It was probabaly enought pasta to feed 3 or 4 and it was also very salty and garlicky so I sent it back and got a filet mignon which was very good but they gave me about a pound of asparagus and broccoli on the side, no presentation and the sauce was on the side. I just ate the steak because the veggies were not very appetizing and I was just... sad that we didn't have a captain. Lol. My husband's bison medallions had food just piled on top; no presentation whatsoever. By the end of the night we just took our dessert to go (because it was free since service was slow and food wasnt great and the laud people stayed there ALL NIGHT and the server could tell they were annoying us). Another thing i was looking forward to was the coffee! Their coffee had always been amazing but i figured it was probably not as good either and they were already closed by this time (that's how slow our server was) so we just went to our room, which I specifically booked at that hotel so we could go to the ranchers club and have a nice quiet romantic dinner and some wine and not have to worry about driving. All in all, we were looking forward to having a captian (amazing service), amazing food and to enjoy a romantic evening at a fancy restaurant with a quiet atmosphere but instead we got a server who knew nothing about the food or how to pair it, the food wasn't great (we could have gone to Texas roadhouse and gotten a good steak) and the atmosphere was just loud. For the price you pay you can just go to red lobster and have a nice server (no captain :( and good food with a casual atmosphere and spend...
Read moreThe Rancher's Club of Albuquerque used to be a high end restaurant - that is no more!! I confirmed my reservation with Debbie 3 times because I had a party of 14. I should have known my experience was not going to be good when the private room for my reservation was not set up. After shuffling tables and chairs around, we sat and received a complementary appetizer. It was delicious! We ordered drinks, then dinner. We realized that we were a large party and were expecting a little more than normal wait for our food, BUT 1 Hour is RIDICULOUS, especially because the restaurant was not full. When our food arrived, most of our parties food was cold. My food was delicious, but I ordered a soup and appetizer. Most of the people in my party were not complaining because it was a celebration dinner. However, afterward I was told that all the steaks were cold and so were the sides. Two dinner's were already comped because they were cold. After we finished our meals, we asked for our checks several times. After another hour, our checks were brought to our table. I would have left - not to skip out on the bill, but to hurry it along, but my mother and father-in-law frowned upon that. My sister went to talk to the manager on duty in private to let her know how much we were unhappy about the food and service. She offered to comp my sisters plate, but my sister said that was not right when everyone in our party was unhappy. The manager ended up giving up 50% off, but I don't think this was worth there for 3 1/2 hours. It was obvious there was not enough staff in that restaurant to accommodate our party. I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN AND WILL LET OTHER'S KNOW WHAT I...
Read moreI really wanted to give this place a higher rating, however, I just can't. The service was great. Probably one of the better service-wise places in the state. The décor was retro and a bit dated, but I think it is part of the allure of the place. However, the food was average. For the prices they charge it was not worth it at all. The appetizer was okay- the toast looked, felt and tasted like generic white store bread. The duck was good on it but the carb pieces tasted mostly out of a bag or made of cheaper materials. The main dish was okay at best. I had the special hunter plate. The boar sausage was really dry and tasted microwaved, the bison was solid, but poorly seasoned and the venison again was solid, but nothing overwhelming. My wife the pasta carbonara which was huge- not a bad thing- but was drenched in cream- way too much to hide the lack of duck and other parts of the carbonara. It was a brick of sauce by the time we got home. I just found for the price, the quality was poor. I would have given it one star for the food, but the service was solid. The meal and overall was saved by the dessert. We had a sampler plate of ice cake and other such ice cream with cake type mix- it was great. But overall for the cost, definitely not worth it. I feel like you could get the same meal we got for about $80 per person, for $30 per person and actually get better quality of...
