Having been to multiple Bonchon locations and never had a single complaint about any of them says a lot. My wife and I notice this new location and decided to place a to go order online. (Large combo, half and half with two orders of season fries) Firstly, our order was scheduled to be ready at 6:45 but it wasn’t handed to us till 7:10. I understand that delays happen but when there are no other customers in line and only one waiting for their food. Not sure what could be the 30+ min delay. (Other locations are right on the money when it comes to times) Secondly, the chicken was not crispy as it should be and very very blend. (Having eaten bonchon multiple times for years we know how it should taste.) the chicken was supposed to be half spicy and half garlic. But it was all blend and even though they separated the chicken you would not be able to distinguish either chicken flavors, neither spicy nor garlic flavor were able to be tasted. Seemed that the chicken was just breaded and tossed in the deep fryer and packed. Definitely not bonchon standard and it will give the brand a bad reputation. Lastly but not to big of a deal is to make sure to ask for sauce at the store and not look till you get home like myself, as I came to realize there was no sauces at all in my bag. ( again I assume it would have been like the other bonchon locations I have been to. Not to far from here that just go ahead and place sauces, utensils in the bag.) Definitely missed the sauce for the fries but the fries were okay. I won’t let this experience take away from my other experiences in other locations but I can say I won’t return to this location.

Roberto is very racist and lacked customer service skills. I being a black woman sat down with a McDonald’s in my hand and wanted to charge my phone but wanted to get settled and order something. I’ll never eat at another Bonchon again if they train u to harass someone over food from another store. The run down is he came over not greeting me I didn’t know he worked there as he looked like he just got out of bed and then he points at my food being loud saying hey u can’t bring food in here without buying something and I stated I was I just want to put my phone on the charger and he said no u can’t sit and have food from another store I said ok u don’t have to do too much I’m going to wait in line and order it was about 6 people around watching. Roberto waited til I bought something to then bring up how u can’t have food from another store but I said but u didn’t ask if I was buying something just cuz u seen me with good that doesn’t mean it’s mine I could’ve waited for someone to come to buy something but since he’s such a know it all he wanted to argue and express he’s not being rude yet not taking my order so now I’m thinking u just want me upset to me leave but I’m writing this to let whoever wants to check this place out in King st in VA don’t go in there to chill get your food eat and leave he wasn’t even apologetic about my feelings and I bought something so how does he look doing all that weird stuff. He’s pathetic and lacks work ethic for $6.00 job promised to him.

A high price for what seems like a “knockoff” version of Bonchon. I’ve had it from 4 different locations and the wings here look and taste completely different. I picked up my order of 20 wings first to only be handed 10, they didn’t put my order together properly. Then I had to go back in and they made me the remaining 10, but forgot to put the side back into the bag. Even though this place is brand new, it was dirty, unorganized, and the kitchen looked like a mess and unsanitary. Management must not be around often. I took my wings back home, only to find that they were heavily coated with batter, poorly coated with seasoning/sauce and didn’t taste anything like Bonchon. I feel like they didn’t mix the batter properly, and didn’t use the proper amount of seasoning/sauce. Overall, a terrible experience from a chain I absolutely LOVE. Even though this location is walking distance from me, I will be getting my Bonchon from one of the other locations next time. Management, please do some visits and quality control checks. This place is really giving Bonchon a bad image. UPDATE 4/4/2022: After this review and a separate email to Bonchon corporate nothing has been done to fix the situation. Management said they’d look into it, and Bonchon tried saying it’s because they have a different menu at this location and they changed the recipe for the strips (which I didn’t order)? No one has attempted to remedy the issue.

If you want Korean style fried chicken I would opt for a different location, or CM chicken just a little further down the road. When this location opened I was excited as its much closer to me than the one in Annandale or on Richmond hwy. The first time I ate here was Super Bowl Sunday which was a mistake on my end not anticipating that everyone else in the world also wanted chicken wings for the game. Nevertheless, the wings were cooked and sauced perfectly. The staff that was initially hired was very friendly, this includes the manager, not sure what his name was but he had a ponytail. The last time I visited and I mean last time was 7/10. I’m not sure if ownership changed but the staff was completely new. Not an issue, but when your greeted by someone in pajama pants things start to seem sketch. In regards to the chicken, one could say it was an abomination. I mean absolutely disgusting. It seemed as if it was par baked, battered, fried, and fried again once I placed my order. When I received my order the wings were so big, you would have thought they were drums. Nope just wings encased in batter as thick as my fingernail. The box they were served in was not capable of closing. The batter itself wasn’t really crunchy, more like stiff and chewy. The oil they were fried in also had to be old and burnt. Also the soy garlic sauce that everyone loves, was not present. Seriously, check out CM Chicken.

We ordered 12 piece wings (8 wings &4 drumsticks) regular size for delivery. We had huge drumsticks and 1 or 2 small drumsticks ( idk if they think we don’t know what wings are). The food did not look fresh and tasted funny. I called the store and told them I didn’t order all drumsticks and the food does not taste right. She said I should have ordered just wings. I told her I did, 8 wings and 4 drumsticks. I asked for a refund and she said they wanted the chicken back, I said sure you can have it back and I asked if they were going to come pick it up. The lady on the phone told me I had to drop of the chicken to the store. I ordered delivery, more so why would a store want chicken that has been touched by the customer back!!! That’s unsanitary and disgusting. I wish I read the reviews before even ordering from this location.

Worst Bonchon EVER! I ordered seasoned fries & idk what nonsense they gave me clumped up green stuff. Then for my wings they gave me half spicy & half soy garlic when I ordered ONLY soy garlic & burnt! So i was unable to eat half of them. Not to mention I chose curbside pickup & after waiting 10 min I came inside to be ignored for another 10 mins till I was able to ask someone if my food was ready & it was & they said oh we were supposed to bring it out oops” I could tell the rest of the customers in there waiting around were upset. But once I got home my food was cold & it was very upsetting because this food is not cheap! I love Bonchon but do yourself a favor & ignore this location at all costs!
