Updated review- this place, always good has become “very good”. I stopped by after work and sat at the sushi bar. The owner, wait staff and sushi chef all welcomed me and checked to see if I was enjoying the food (I was) without being overbearing. Very friendly and warm. On to the food- the spider roll with Avocado was exceptional. Good portion, presentation was great and it didn’t fall apart. Beef gyoza was next- perfectly seasoned and cooked with great dipping sauce. Last was shrimp tempura roll, again excellent. I had a great conversation with the sushi chef about movies, Avengers Endgame, John Wick and Lord of the Rings. Overall a great experience, highly recommended. Original; ”Under new management" Since January according to the hostess. I guess I have not been in a while. Seems the same, very good, not great. I usually get unagi and a spider roll. Tonight the special was a "Pink Lady" roll, that I got by mistake. It was very good. Spicy tuna, and some other stuff I forget. T I...
Read moreMy wife and I dropped in here on our honeymoon, after picking up something at the ABC. We hadn't eaten since much earlier that morning, so we popped in here for a quick dinner. The service was fantastic, our waiter was very prompt with refills for our tea, and even brought out water(with lemon wedges!) halfway through our meal. The variety of nigiri was great: many sushi restaurants I have visited give would give you a few shrimp, eel and maybe a crab stick nigiri, but here was far more varied, with inari sushi, smoked salmon, tako, an excellent tamago, and baby octopus in addition to the more typical shrimp and unagi. Dinner was rounded out with slices of orange. We'll definitely be going back next time we're out in that area and have a...
Read moreLadies and gentlemen, behold the $49 sushi tray! (Tape dispenser included for scale.) What an absolute steal--if by "steal" you mean "daylight robbery." I ordered pickup, blissfully unaware that two specialty rolls and two pieces of hamachi would be so... microscopic.
Do yourselves a favor and skip this place.
Instead, go to Zento where the ambiance is better and you actually get fed.
To the owner: No, I'm not from Zento as your claim suggests. I just don't understand your absurdly high prices for low quality sushi. I'm actually trying to provide important info to protect the consumer from sushi restaurants like you who don't care to try to provide a high quality product despite sky-high prices. Believe me, I know good sushi having come from Los Angeles where there are some of the best spots...
