Read moreReally beautiful and peaceful park. Went around noon on a Thursday and there were few people there. It started to get busier around 1:30pm. Nice paved trail (also a 1-lane road) that goes through the park, good for walking dogs. There's a nice big playground with lots of shade, spigots and bowls for dogs to drink out of along the trail, shaded picnic tables, a small museum, an outdoor amphitheatre with power outlets, a bathroom, and the fort itself. The young gentleman staffing the desk was nice and patiently answered my questions about the Civil War. There were only a few other visitors while I was there and the grounds were peaceful.
