Note to add: I just realized I had been in a Chick-fil-A. We had breakfast in one in Las Vegas. But not the chicken like dinner.
We stopped for a quick dinner at this Chick-Fil-A, in June, 2023 I can't remember being to a Chic-fil-A before. Yes I've heard of them, but don't remember visiting one. We do have some near us, but there are few and I've just never had the opportunity to try them. So while in Alexandria, we decided on a quick dinner after another busy day on our trip. So we tried this Chic-fil-A. It was exactly 6PM. When we arrived, it was hard to get into the parking lot because of traffic cones blocking the entrance and making two lanes for the drive through. We had to park a ways away because of the chaos in the chick-fil-A parking lot. We walked inside to have a quick sit down dinner. There was no one in the restaurant at the time, other than us, and of course the employees. I made it very obvious when a began taking pictures, so I know they saw me. And there was a reason that I made it obvious. We ordered our meal and took a seat with an identifier placard. We had trouble finding a seat because every table that was not in the hot sun, was dirty and had trash on it. I'm speaking of the tables right in front of the counter. Every table was filthy. Well except one that wasn't too dirty. The tables on the side might have been clean, because it was over 90 degrees outside and they were in the sun. So nobody probably wanted to sit there. Obviously we didn't. We sat down and one of the employees brought out our food. The food was okay. The Chicken was decent, but I saw that the wife's sandwich was just a piece of chicken on a roll. Everything else, you must put together and add. So it seems that you make your own sandwich here. Interesting concept. So why have employees? I found the fries to have little taste. So quite honestly, I didn't find the meal worth the price. Ironically, I had KFC last night, and although it wasn't perfect either. It was much better than this and cheaper. I did this on purpose and had basically the same type of meal to give me an idea how the two compared. While we were eating, some of the employees started to clean the filth. There was trash on the tables and floor. But to their credit, they worked on it. One of the employees placed one disposable wipe for each table and chairs at each table. They did pick up some of the trash on the floor. But they do not look under the tables and chairs as they missed trash under the table and on the chair right across from us. Again to their credit, a man who might have been the manager came over to us to make sure everything was good and if we might want a refill on our drinks. We were pretty much done, so we declined. But I give him credit for making the effort. They did get most of the tables cleaned up when the 6:30pm crowd started coming in. That's about the time that we departed. The food not being the greatest could have been a result of the chaos outside with the drive through window. I don't know. But I find it hard to excuse the filthy conditions we walked into with an empty restaurant. It was not the greatest first impression...
Read moreOnce a week, when my son has Jiujitsu, we will grab Chick-fil-A on the way home. It's the one night we don't cook and it's our son's favorite place to eat. Recently, he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This has been hard on everyone, because you need to be hyper aware of what is in your food. We quickly found out that most fast food was out, but not Chick-fil-A. A small fruit cup with grilled chicken nuggets and the small waffle fry just happened to be the perfect amount of carbohydrates that the endocrinologist ordered per meal until we find out his correct insulin doses. This has been a small victory, until the last visit.
Our son loves lemonade from Chick-fil-A. We now have to order the diet version because regular has several times the amount of carbs he's allowed to have over the whole day. Last week when I ordered the lemonade, they gave us regular, which I was lucky enough to figure out when we got home before he had any. Mistakes happen, and I understand that, but this was the second time in a row that this has happened. The first time, the little diet button wasn't pressed down on the drink, so I had them send me a diet version. This time, the diet button was pressed down and I just tested it because I was a little wary.
If I had not tested it, my son very well could have had an out of control blood sugar that might have required hospitalization. Mistakes happen, but perhaps more careful attention should be paid to what people order. Before the diagnosis, this would have just been a minor annoyance, but now this is something that could have resulted in serious injury. I don't want to take the risk of eating here anymore, two weeks in a row of the same mistake is too much for me...
Read moreI made a delivery to New Iberia and on my way home I had Google maps route me to Chic-fil-a. It was a 9 minute detour but chic-fil-a is always worth it. The parking lot was packed and it was dark, but I didn't mind the wait and the difficulty of getting my trailer in (my first time to this location so I wasn't familiar with the layout). I had to sit and wait for people to move out of my way as soon as I got into the lot. There was no room to park so I pulled into the next business's lot and walked about 150 yards to go in and order. I ordered a #1 deluxe with pepperjack cheese, large fry and unsweetened tea (trying to cut sugar) which is what I always order. I didn't get my frys at first, but the lady apologized and took my bag back and put the fries in. On my way out to my truck a young lady asked if it was my rig and I (thinking it was the closed business's manager) explained that there was no room in chic-fil-a's lot and I was just leaving. She told me I had hit a sign at the entrance of chic-fil-a and she needed to do an incident report. I asked if I needed to pay for the sign but she said it had nothing to do with paying for damage but just getting my information. I wasn't willing to give my information but wanted to talk to the manager and/or just pay for the damage and go home. I still had a 3 hour drive to get home and my food was getting cold. She threatened to call the police if I didn't give my phone number. I was so frustrated because I wanted to do the right thing but I was being threatened with being held up for however long if I didn't just give up my private information. I ended up giving in so I could go home. Now I'm at home and...
