4 stars for the food but 3 stars for the cleanliness. I walked in about 1.5 hours after the restaurant opened for the day. I only noticed myself waiting for a to-go order and another gentleman sitting by himself eating his breakfast, so 2 guests total in the restaurant.

As I was waiting, I had noticed one of the empty tables by the restaurant entrance to the far right had what looked like some spilled milk and a empty straw wrap on the table.

All of the waiters were huddled around the bar chatting when I noticed that.

I used to be in the industry so I understand. I have no problem with chatting if the sections are clean and ready to rock, but to see that 1.5 hours after opening, in an empty restaurant would turn alot of people I know away - as in they wouldn't even sit down, they'd just go somewhere else. I could see if it was really busy and things fell behind a bit, I wouldn't have cared then.

Maybe it's an isolated incident and never happens, but someone going in the restaurant for the 1st time won't know that. Perception becomes reality.

I'm bring attention to it so that management can help the team get that squared away.

As for the food, I had the lemon pop-tart which tasted good (for me personally, it was on the very sweet side, so if you like that in your pop tarts, you're going to enjoy this one) and the coffee cake which I also enjoyed.

The messy table described above won't deter me from coming back, I'll pop back in and try some other items on the menu at some point. I'd recommend giving this...

My first time trying this new place on King St for breakfast. I wish Google would let you give half stars because it really was a 4.5. The place is really lovely inside, and the locally made butcher block table tops and murals are a nice touch. Brodie, my waiter, did a great job. He was friendly and attentive without being intrusive and was helpful when I couldn’t decide what I wanted, offering a suggestion that gave me the best of both worlds for a better price. The menu overall is reasonably priced, especially for being on King St and next to / part of the Archer hotel. I think with this being a new place they still have some kinks to work out with the food. The “pop’d heart” was pretty greasy and way too sweet for my taste. I would’ve liked the option to have it served cold and without the sprinkles. The eggs were a bit too greasy with oil sitting on top but were otherwise cooked perfectly. The potatoes were pretty oily too, and would’ve liked bigger pieces. The side biscuit and sausage gravy was outstanding and the real star. The gravy had a little kick to it and was delicious, and the biscuit was crunchy on top and like a cross between a biscuit and focaccia. Super fluffy! They also leave the coffee carafe at the table, which I love, and the flavor was amazing, if a bit on the weak side (even for decaf). Would definitely recommend this place - I’m sure they’ll keep improving as they go on. Will...

After stopping at a little coffee shop, and unfortunately, having some of the worst coffee I’ve ever had and searching for something better, I wandered into homegrown, honestly not knowing it was a restaurant. But boy was I glad I came here! I just had regular coffee, which was much better than The place I went to previously. (see my other review) and it was much better. In fact, they leave the whole carafe at your table. I was surprised to see that their prices were cheaper than other places when comparing the same dishes. I ordered the eggs, Benedict and hashbrowns. It came with two helpings of eggs, Benedict and the small square cut potato style hash brown. Those hashbrowns were incredible tasting! The best I’ve ever had The eggs Benedict had a homemade holiday sauce, which definitely was unique tasting to me. I wasn’t wowed by it, but it was still good. They had a lemon theme going on, and I noticed the sauce seemed to be kind of lemony. I wonder if that was part of The theme. My picture won’t be very helpful as by the time I thought about taking it I had already almost finished my dish. But I’ll post it anyway. It was a good sized dish for the price. I don’t think anyone would be...

It's an aesthetically pleasing, modern restaurant, but that's where the good news ends. I ordered a flat white, which you can get at Starbucks, so it's not a big secret menu kind of coffee. My server brought me a shot of espresso. When I let him know that I had ordered a flat white, he said, what's that? Off he went with my description. Midway through breakfast.I asked where my coffee was, and he said, ohh I'm sorry, you didn't get it? I gave in and had their very weak american coffee instead, since a flat white was clearly not going to happen. Their signature Pop'd Hearts were overly sweet. I'd rather have a much better quality pastry than cute sprinkles on top. The biscuits and sausage gravy were just okay. There was minimal sausage in the gravy and the biscuits were too soft to maintain any texture in heavily thickened gravy. I most definitely would not return.
