Food is ok, mostly used canned stuff (e.g., soup) and way too much garlic in their chicken & tuna salads but you get a lot for the price. Both the chicken & tuna salads are rather dry but you can always add mayo!
I don't see where all the people saying "great service" is coming from. The owner (I assume he's the owner) is always so unfriendly, and I have been going there for years. They also have a loyalty card for coffee, but it's never offered. Customer service is way down on their list. Also, I bought a cookie from there one day and it tasted like it'd been in the display case for weeks (granted, it was the 3-eye cookie which is not the most popular, but gross!)
The set up is also weird, they've got tables crammed in so you have to practically push through if there are customers sitting in the tables, to get to order. They should rearrange so it's easier for the customer.
I go there because they have decent bagels and it's close, when I get tired of the other...
Read moreIF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE LESS THAN ONE STAR I WOULD! We were in town visiting family and stopped in to buy several sandwiches before heading to the airport. My daughter has Celiac Disease so we asked if they could please make one of them a lettuce wrapped sandwich rather than using bread and to please change gloves and wash the cutting board to prevent cross contamination. The girl was incredibly rude and making faces so we said if that was too much trouble, she could just change gloves and use the paper to wrap it. She proceeded to wash the board and knife and literally throw them back down on the counter! I understand this may be a family business so I would say to the owners, if this is a family member, she needs a major attitude adjustment! We travel to Alexandria several times a year to see our kids and spend a great deal of money shopping local each time. This is one place we will never step...
Read moreI walk by this place every day on my way to work. I am sort of a creature of habit and begin every day with a breakfast sandwich and an iced coffee type drink.
I've been to this place three times, each time walking in with a smile and saying "hi" to every employee who initially makes eye contact (usually at least two). So far I've gotten no more than one "hi" in return.
As I order, the trend continues. The cashier rings me up, without a word, turns around tot he machine after I hand him my card, stands there (awkwardly), and comes back only to put my card on top of the receipt and a pen on the counter and shoves it toward me. Again, no words. I sign, say "thanks" and of course, now words.
My drinks have been fine, my sandwiches have been fine, but there's no reason to begin each day being ignored by people (that's what my hour long metro...
