In the heart of Old Town Virginia, our culinary journey led us to an Italian deli that effortlessly wove the tapestry of tradition and flavor. The aroma of finely cured meats and aged cheeses beckoned us, promising a symphony for the senses. Our palates embarked on a delightful voyage as we indulged in the Italian hot sub—a masterpiece of layered prosciutto, mortadella, and provolone, all ensconced within a crusty artisanal roll.
The Cuban club, a harmonious blend of cultures, unfolded before us like a culinary sonnet. Tender roasted pork met the smoky embrace of ham, while the pickles and mustard danced in perfect synchrony. Each bite was a testament to the craftsmanship of the deli, marrying diverse elements into a gustatory crescendo.
As if this were not enough, the journey took an unexpected turn with the addition of the cowboy chili—a robust and spicy concoction that whispered of the American frontier. Ground beef, beans, and a medley of spices simmered to perfection, offering a warmth that enveloped both the body and soul.
In this quaint establishment, every morsel bore witness to the dedication to authenticity and quality. The fusion of Italian and Cuban influences, accompanied by the rustic charm of Old Town, created an experience that transcended mere dining—it was a celebration of culinary artistry in a locale...

Not knowing what had survived the COVID pandemic, I was thrilled to find Stage Door Deli, practically just across the street on the same block, a place I had only seen when it had been closed outside its business hours. Its menu was posted outside on a window.
So for the first time ever, I entered, ordering two Philly Cheese subs ($7.49), made of sliced beef with sauteed onions and provolone cheese. I took the subs home for two of us to eat. They were awesome and really exceeded my expectations. I cannot wait to return to have more of those and to try other menu items. Forget Subway; get your subs (and...
