Read moreI would just like to take the time and share my experience here. First, it’s a cute restaurant that has a rustic theme. The food and drinks were absolutely WONDERFUL! However, the service was poor. I ordered a drink and never got It until after my food came, which was about an hour after placing our order. The place wasn’t busy so I didn’t really understand the huge delay. Secondly, we ordered the spinach dip, which was good as well. We had eaten all of the chips so we ask for more chips to finish the dip.
Fast forward to getting our bill. This is where the problem came in. Normally, when you go to a restaurant and if something is an extra fee, the server will let you know that in advance so you can decide if you’d still like to get It. There was a charge for the chips and we asked the waiter to get the manger because she said she wasn’t able to remove It.
Jerry, the manager, came to the table and we explained what happened and requested the chips be removed because we weren’t aware of a charge for them. We didn’t even eat them. Do you know this man fixed his mouth to tell us, “Well, nothing in life is free” followed by a laugh. We saw nothing funny about It. He continued by telling us we should’ve known there was an extra charge and was very condescending towards us. He even told us the chips are freshly made by them and they have to pay so we have to as well. As someone who’s worked in the food industry, a simple apology could’ve made the situation better. He then proceeded to talk to us like we were less than. Told us he doesn’t tell people there’s additional fees because of bad experiences in the past when customers got upset. We let him know, it’s always important to tell your patrons about any additional fee for an item. After about 10 mins, he finally decided to take the chips off the bill and left.
Now our waitress was struggling to split our checks up when in the beginning before dining, we let her know our checks would be split 5 ways so please itemize the checks now to make It easy at the end. She refused and said she’d wait til we were done. Well, after 40 minutes, she finished splitting the checks and made some errors and tried to charge one of us for drinks we never received. She then fixed It and took It off. We asked her why she couldn’t take the chips off when we initially asked but she could take an alcoholic beverage off?
After this experience, I’ll never go back and Jerry needs to be replaced. If he talks to us like that, I can only imagine how he speaks to the staff and other customers.
The entire interaction could’ve been simple if they just said, hey there’s an additional charge for extra chips. We don’t know what we don’t know especially when you go to soooo many places and they give you free chips or...
Read moreI just had THE MOST unbelievable experience. I went to have brunch at this spot. Ordered three chicken and waffles, bacon and home fries. When the food came, we asked for hot syrup. With a confused look on her face, she said "we don't do that!" I said, you don't have hot syrup? She said we needed to ask our server. Our server came and we asked for hot syrup and she was also confused, as if this was the first time someone asked for hot syrup. She said she needed to check and took the syrup with her. She came back and said they couldn't do it. I asked for the manager. Jerry came to the table my and I asked about having hot syrup. He said they couldn't do it.
I asked if they had a microwave, he said no. I asked if he can put some syrup in a pot? He said no. We are too busy for that. Shocked by his response, I said "I'm sure this is not the first time you've had someone ask for hot syrup. He said, "no, we get that request all the time." I responded with, "that's all the more reason why you should be able to accommodate that small request."
Jerry then added "Im not going to change my mind." At that point, I advised him to take my food as I no longer wanted it." He snatched up my plate quickly.
I then said to Jerry that I couldn't believe he would rather lose a customer than to provide his customer some hot syrup. He then said the ultimate, "we are too busy and I am no going to burden my kitchen staff." I said, "as the manager, the 5 minutes it has taken you to come to the table to discuss this, go back and get a card and bring it back, HE could have gotten the hot syrup in 45 seconds." His response was "I have more important things." At this point, I advised he could take all of the food because I wasn't paying to be disrespected. He turned to my party and said "if you aren't going to pay, you need to stop eating." I advised I was paying for the meal, but I was not paying at this point." My friend interjected and said "at this point, you can take my plate. Your level of disrespect is unbelievable!"
Mind you, we were sitting out in the enclosed outdoor seating. When I asked other patrons, several said they couldn't believe it. One family decided they would leave too.
This could have all been resolved but Jerry was absolute in his decision and not willing to budge or even attempt to accommodate us.
Never again. They've seen the last of me and I will be certain that others do not have...
