JULY 17: What a different restaurant than the one we visited 3 weeks ago!!! Dirty uncleared booths prevented us from getting our requested seating – manager simply refused to clear booth for us. Waitress asked what dressing we wanted on our dinner salads, and we asked her for standard Basalmic. When salad came (with barely any dressing) we asked for more. She told us this was our fault for not ordering dressing on the side! She ignored us for the rest of the time we were there. Then power went out for two minutes, causing their computer to crash! "Sorry about that" doesn't cut it – but that's all we got from the manager. We won't go back any time soon, if ever – even though it's the closest restaurant to our house! HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! JUNE 23: Very nice food, very attentive and polite service, especially for a Saturday night! We were three in a comfortable booth. My husband really enjoyed the steak! It was a bit pricey, but the portion was generous and quality was great – although it was rare, not medium! Looking forward to the liquor license soon! (ORIGINALLY 4 STARS)

I normally love this place. Today though made me feel uneasy. The server brung us our checks, so I just looked at my items to make sure they were correct and they were. When she brung me back my debit card receipt she didn’t bring back the itemized copy which I thought was odd so my friend brung it to my attention the tip was already included and the debit card receipt suggest what tip to leave which led me to believe no tip was included. So to me the server was being deceptive since none of us got our itemized copy back as if she was hoping we missed the gratuity on the check and add additional tip on the debit card receipt due to the suggestion of the tip. I asked for a copy of my itemized copy and when I received it, yes it was already included, there was no mention by the server at all. It maybe listed on the menu but I didn’t notice and nor did I notice signage on the door (not saying it isn’t there, I just didn’t notice it) to me that was being sneaky to get extra on a tip.

My recent visit to The Executive Diner in Alexandria, VA, for breakfast was quite a pleasant experience. The diner boasts ample parking and a variety of seating options, both indoors and outdoors, which is great for any weather or occasion. They are also kid-friendly, making it a stress-free choice for families. We tried the sausage and biscuits, which were served in a generous portion size, ideal for sharing. The maple sausage, eggs, and French toast combo was tasty, although the eggs were a bit runny and the French toast was slightly over-fried around the edges. However, the softer parts of the French toast were delicious, especially with the berries, even if a tad too sweet. A highlight was the freshly pressed orange juice, which I recommend enjoying over a separate glass of ice for the best experience. Despite the small critiques, the overall meal was delightful, and I'm eager to return to The Executive Diner to satisfy my morning cravings.

Title: A Fantastic Dining Experience at Executive Diner in Old Town Virginia

Introduction: I recently had the pleasure of dining at Executive Diner in the heart of Old Town Virginia, and I must say, it was a truly fantastic experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the diner's charming atmosphere, large windows, and welcoming ambiance.

Atmosphere: The atmosphere at Executive Diner is simply delightful. The large windows allow natural light to flood the space, creating a warm and inviting environment. The retro-inspired decor adds a touch of nostalgia, making you feel like you've stepped back in time. Whether you're dining alone or with a group, the cozy booths and comfortable seating arrangements make for a pleasant and enjoyable meal.

Service: The service at Executive Diner is top-notch. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any requests. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and promptly seated. Throughout the meal, the waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.

Food: The food at Executive Diner is simply outstanding. The menu offers a wide variety of options, from classic diner fare to more unique and innovative dishes. I had the pleasure of trying their signature dish, the Executive Breakfast Platter, and it was absolutely delicious. The platter included perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, fluffy pancakes, and a side of golden hash browns. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the portion size was generous. It's clear that the chefs at Executive Diner take pride in their craft and use only the freshest ingredients.

Coffee and Tea: No diner experience is complete without a good cup of coffee, and Executive Diner certainly delivers in this aspect. The coffee is rich, smooth, and expertly brewed. The variety of tea is delicious. The Cappuccino tea is the best. It pairs perfectly with the hearty breakfast options and provides a comforting start to the day.

Overall Experience: My dining experience at Executive Diner was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of the inviting atmosphere, delicious food, and attentive service created a memorable experience. Whether you're looking for a hearty breakfast, a quick lunch, or a satisfying dinner, Executive Diner is the perfect choice. The attention to detail and commitment to providing a fantastic dining experience is evident in every aspect of the restaurant.

I would just like to take the time and share my experience here. First, it’s a cute restaurant that has a rustic theme. The food and drinks were absolutely WONDERFUL! However, the service was poor. I ordered a drink and never got It until after my food came, which was about an hour after placing our order. The place wasn’t busy so I didn’t really understand the huge delay. Secondly, we ordered the spinach dip, which was good as well. We had eaten all of the chips so we ask for more chips to finish the dip.

Fast forward to getting our bill. This is where the problem came in. Normally, when you go to a restaurant and if something is an extra fee, the server will let you know that in advance so you can decide if you’d still like to get It. There was a charge for the chips and we asked the waiter to get the manger because she said she wasn’t able to remove It.

Jerry, the manager, came to the table and we explained what happened and requested the chips be removed because we weren’t aware of a charge for them. We didn’t even eat them. Do you know this man fixed his mouth to tell us, “Well, nothing in life is free” followed by a laugh. We saw nothing funny about It. He continued by telling us we should’ve known there was an extra charge and was very condescending towards us. He even told us the chips are freshly made by them and they have to pay so we have to as well. As someone who’s worked in the food industry, a simple apology could’ve made the situation better. He then proceeded to talk to us like we were less than. Told us he doesn’t tell people there’s additional fees because of bad experiences in the past when customers got upset. We let him know, it’s always important to tell your patrons about any additional fee for an item. After about 10 mins, he finally decided to take the chips off the bill and left.

Now our waitress was struggling to split our checks up when in the beginning before dining, we let her know our checks would be split 5 ways so please itemize the checks now to make It easy at the end. She refused and said she’d wait til we were done. Well, after 40 minutes, she finished splitting the checks and made some errors and tried to charge one of us for drinks we never received. She then fixed It and took It off. We asked her why she couldn’t take the chips off when we initially asked but she could take an alcoholic beverage off?

After this experience, I’ll never go back and Jerry needs to be replaced. If he talks to us like that, I can only imagine how he speaks to the staff and other customers.

The entire interaction could’ve been simple if they just said, hey there’s an additional charge for extra chips. We don’t know what we don’t know especially when you go to soooo many places and they give you free chips or...

I just had THE MOST unbelievable experience. I went to have brunch at this spot. Ordered three chicken and waffles, bacon and home fries. When the food came, we asked for hot syrup. With a confused look on her face, she said "we don't do that!" I said, you don't have hot syrup? She said we needed to ask our server. Our server came and we asked for hot syrup and she was also confused, as if this was the first time someone asked for hot syrup. She said she needed to check and took the syrup with her. She came back and said they couldn't do it. I asked for the manager. Jerry came to the table my and I asked about having hot syrup. He said they couldn't do it.

I asked if they had a microwave, he said no. I asked if he can put some syrup in a pot? He said no. We are too busy for that. Shocked by his response, I said "I'm sure this is not the first time you've had someone ask for hot syrup. He said, "no, we get that request all the time." I responded with, "that's all the more reason why you should be able to accommodate that small request."

Jerry then added "Im not going to change my mind." At that point, I advised him to take my food as I no longer wanted it." He snatched up my plate quickly.

I then said to Jerry that I couldn't believe he would rather lose a customer than to provide his customer some hot syrup. He then said the ultimate, "we are too busy and I am no going to burden my kitchen staff." I said, "as the manager, the 5 minutes it has taken you to come to the table to discuss this, go back and get a card and bring it back, HE could have gotten the hot syrup in 45 seconds." His response was "I have more important things." At this point, I advised he could take all of the food because I wasn't paying to be disrespected. He turned to my party and said "if you aren't going to pay, you need to stop eating." I advised I was paying for the meal, but I was not paying at this point." My friend interjected and said "at this point, you can take my plate. Your level of disrespect is unbelievable!"

Mind you, we were sitting out in the enclosed outdoor seating. When I asked other patrons, several said they couldn't believe it. One family decided they would leave too.

This could have all been resolved but Jerry was absolute in his decision and not willing to budge or even attempt to accommodate us.

Never again. They've seen the last of me and I will be certain that others do not have...
