I have been visiting this location for many years. The food and staff are usually good and this location is dated but clean. It's generally not busy when we go. I do not usually give bad reviews, I just don't give a review. BUT, this visit is getting 3 stars and that's a gift. It was not busy or during peak hours. There were plenty of staff. Our waitress SUCKED. She made it plain she was unhappy to have a table with 3 young toddlers (my children are very well behaved, especially for their ages(under 5). This was no where near their first time in a restaurant or even this restaurant) and my elderly mother and me. The eye roll upon being told we were her table was blatant. At first she tried to rush us but upon finally realizing a table like ours isn't one you can rush, her attitude and service continued to decline. One of our kids drink lids was broken, I had to ask her for a replacement several times. I asked for napkins repeatedly and finally got up and asked the manager at the register for some. I had to get silverware from other tables. I did get up and ask a different waitress (who has been our server before and was fantastic) for an extra placemat for one of my kids and she was great and gave us extra for all three because they love coloring the castles & she smiled and waved at my kids. One of my kids has a milk allergy so I always let servers know before and during ordering. The irritation when ordering their kids meal and soup was very obvious. With her allergy I HAVE to ask about ingredients in food, even at places we have been to before because recipes change, as do staff. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup and side salad with ranch. It's was literally drenched in ranch. Like ranch soup with lettuce. I wish I would have taken a picture. The soup was cold. My mom got a sandwich with sweet potato fries. Her fries looked burned and my mom barely touched her food. (She is the type that would never complain but she said later that it was awful). We got all of this delivered at the same time but took 10 minutes after we got our food for all my kids fries to show up. We used the bathroom while here. It's dated and dark but usually clean. Not today. While eating I could clearly see our server spending more time gossiping than doing anything else. I know we only saw her once at our table during our meal. I had to find her to get my bill and ask for a take home box for my mom's food (I don't know why she wanted a box because she threw it away as soon as she got home)and our fries. I am pretty upset with the whole experience because the manager was on the floor"supervising" the whole time but didn't seem to notice/care. Also, a sandwich and sweet potato fries, 1 spaghetti kids meal and fry, 3 kid drinks, 4 cups of chicken noodle soup, 1 side of fries, a side salad, a Pepsi and a water cost $45. Seems over priced. I have worked as a server so I normally tip even bad waitstaff $15-20%+, (and I understand everyone has a bad day now and then) but she was so bad I gave $4. As we were leaving, we're walking past her leaning on the register counter where she was loudly complaining to another server at the small tip. I really wanted to complain, loudly, to the manager and give her a piece of my mind and ask for my tip back but I was with my children and I'm not going to set set that kind of example. I do understand why there is a large help wanted now sign in the window, I just wish I had noticed it before we went in. Actually I'm giving this review 2 stars and I still think...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I was recently at Ram's Horn for breakfast, twice in the past 2 months and I really enjoyed my experience. But this visit was dinner, around 6:30 or 7:00 pm. We both ordered meatloaf, his with a loaded baked potato and broccoli, mine with mashed potatoes & gravy and string beans. Salad was our other option. My order arrived with hash browns (which I had to send back for mashed potatoes), a mound of unrecognizable brown clumps of meat (?) smothered in a brown gravy so thick it look like it was made 5 days ago and string beans that was taken out of the can, ran through some lukewarm water and plated. My partners meatloaf looked as unrecognizable. We were a Trooper though, we were going to eat this but for a very pesky fly that arrived at our table with the entree and made his presence known. Our waiter came over and asked how everything was and I told him, my meatloaf was not hot, my string beans was straight out the can. He must have told the manager that we were not happy, because she appeared at our table within minutes. While she stood at our table assisting us in waving away this pesky fly (in December), the fly landed on the inside of my partners lemonade glass, and that was the end of our attempt to have dinner at Ram's Horn. He don't do flies....PERIOD!!! We were not charged for the...
Read moreA warning to Rams Horn guests: Today, Saturday 06 July 2024, at 9:30 a.m. I took my family to eat at the Rams Horn Restaurant in Allen Park, Michigan (located on Southfield Road). I was shocked and deeply offended by how unfriendly the greeter was, not only to myself, but also to my family as well as other patrons. The young lady clearly did not want to be working and behaved in the manner of a spoiled, entitled unruly teenager, so obviously not wanting to be at work and passive aggressively taking it out on us, the guests! I am shocked that Rams Horn would hire someone who acts as if the customers are an inconvenience to her! She was cold and unpleasant, unfriendly, acting smug and annoyed by all of us. I will have you know that I will probably not be returning, which saddens me because I have been a loyal patron for over 20 years.
Of the available career opportunities out there, not everyone is cut out for a position that deals with the public. Today, the Rams Horn greeter, the person whom WELCOMES the guests, has actually driven us away.
I have filed a complaint with corporate. The rest of the staff were awesome as always, it is unfortunate that one bad apple had to ruin what otherwise would have been a great experience, for all of us.
Get it...
