La Vida Café — Restaurant in Allentown

How to even begin… the very first time I went to this place with my friend, the gentleman at the counter (Joey) went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great first experience at this place however, he was a bit flirtatious. The second time I came here, I was on my 1 hour break from work, I entered the cafe at 12:01, at approxamately 12:05 I placed my order. Mind you it was only a simple burger and Fries and a smoothie and at the time I came in, there was no one on there but me and 2 gentleman so staffing was not an issue at this time. I immediately received my smoothie but at around 12:30, I felt something was off because everyone that was coming in was getting their orders before me, so I continued to wait, at 12:55 I went up to the counter, was completely ignored by him and the other girl working the counter with him but then the owner came up to me and asked me what was wrong, she was highly upset that I was given this kind of service. It was uncalled for. Joey pretended that he forgot about my order but I knew deep down it was done purposely because he cannot handle rejection. Because of you I was not able to have a meal for...

The food was great! For myself, I got The ABE, LA Fries, and a hot chocolate. Both were amazing. They came out within 10 minutes even though I was expecting a much longer wait. The fries were crispy and well seasoned, the sandwich was a good portion that packed regular homemade tasting flavors, and the hot chocolate was excellent. My only complaint would be that a sandwich + fries is a little more expensive. I’d hope that maybe a meal was made that instead of the sandwich only you could get a small portion of fries for $3 or so.

Other than the food, this café has the best customer service around the city. They offer a discount for people living or working in the city, they explain their foods such as the pastel de nata (which was delicious btw), and they explained to me how important it is that they impact the customers with how well they treat them.

Overall, the food for the price is a 4.5. Like I said before, if there was a combo meal with a side of something it would be a 5 for sure. What brings my rating up to a 5 star was their customer service....

Stopped in today 05/10/2023 for brunch. I ordered the South West salad. Oh my lord, that salad was good. Everything was fresh. The dressing is made in-house (which isn't too common anymore). The dressing light and not spicy at all. Every time I order a Southwest salad at other restaurants, it comes with an abundance of beans, and the dressing is from a bottle. This salad had the perfect amount of toppings, in my opinion. The salad is average price 12.50. The protein is an extra cost. I believe I paid about 3.75 for chicken. Which I think is a great price. The chicken was extremely moist and flavorful. It didn't taste like the cardboard chicken most restaurants put on their salad. It comes with one dressing. If you need another dressing, there is an extra cost. Most people only need one dressing. The salad was huge! I honestly couldn't finish it.
