Update: tried this place again just now. It’s WORSE. I told the waiter THREE times no salad but I wanted the red sauce on my enchiladas. What I got was dry nasty tortillas ZERO sauce. No rice on the plate, though it comes with it. My awful, attitude ridden waiter brought me that.
No chips and salsa on the table. And I haven’t seen anyone to complain or get enchilada that aren’t sauceless and dry.
Just wow. Stay very far away. They don’t care. At all.
A place that used to be a lunch favorite, but has gone down hill to the point I will not be back. The wait staff had overall been a trainwreck since I started taking my lunch there regularly almost 2 years ago. But the food was always on point. Last time a little bland, but you can't be perfect all the time, right?
Well today is it for me. I was seated and my server brought me my drink and the little basket of chips. And then disappeared for 30 minutes. I saw not a peek of her in the restaurant for that half hour and entreaties to the other staff to find her led nowhere. She reappeared to ask me if I needed anything else. Um. Yeah. I need to order.
I ordered the lunch fajitas and told her no meat. So she asks "Chicken?" I say again no meat. Then she asks if I want steak. I said again no meat (which is always a deal for this place because it's not like they ever take a dime off the price for leaving off the most expensive part of the meal). After another round of this she finally got it.
Another half hour later I got my meal. Besides myself there were 2 other occupied tables and I did not see a lot of take out orders moving. Apparently it probably took fifteen minutes to cook the mal, and another fifteen to let it get cold sitting on a counter somewhere.
The fajitas were almost entirely onion. maybe three or four lonely bits of mushroom and a couple scraps of pepper and some cheese. And it was served with a literal mountain of lettuce occupying a quarter of the plate and some very dry rice. No beans. It's right there on the menu beans and rice. But guess with a half a head of lettuce on there, they ran out room for the beans.
Another fifteen minutes when I flagged her down for both my check and to point out the lack of the promised beans she looks at me like a deer in headlights. I pointed out the menu said it came with beans.
She finally offers me the beans, but at this point I'm late getting back to work so I said I had neither the time, nor the inclination to sit and eat a bowl of beans. Hearing this she asks if I want black or refried beans. So I repeat just the check, my lunch is over, I've no time to eat a bowl of beans as some kind of bizarre dessert.
So another five minutes pass and she brings me a bowl of refried beans. No check.
She now has gone to fetch my check and if you want to know how that's going, I can say I've had time to type out this entire review with my thumbs on my iPhone while I wait.
Only time will tell when I can actually escape the restaurant. My loved ones, if you're reading this and I haven't turned up at...
Read moreGoing to Tacos y Tequila in City Center Allentown a handful of times over the past 4 months I went in being optimistic, but sadly left each time with a knotted stomach, drenched clothing, and a new digest for the owner/manager each time. My first ever visit to Tacos y Tequila was in February and my friend and I were very excited based off of our vast love for hispanic cuisine. We went in during the afternoon and the restaurant was half empty at this time. The hostess was very nice and told us she would go talk to her manager to get us a table. Then the manager/owner of the restaurant came out to the hostess booth and spoke to her in front about how we would have to wait. Yes, I figured there were multiple other tables already reserved and we were okay with that and sat is the waiting section of the couches. we continued to wait until about 30 minutes past and only one other couple came in and was seated right away ahead of us. Eventually we got tired and talked to the hostess again and she finally sat us. During the course of both our subpar, undercooked meals that consisted of rubbery chicken and spoiled sour cream we noticed a man probably in his 40's to 50's frantically going to and from the bathroom several times. This man was a little loud but we just assumed we was mentally disabled and were completely fine with that because he seemed very sweet. After a while a small argument ensued between the waitress and the owner that the owner wouldn't serve the man for unknown reasons. This went on for a little and eventually the police were called on the man after we had seemingly done nothing wrong! This man began to get upset and started crying to the waitress who was very sweet to him and tried to tend to him. But regardless the owner (Ramiro I believe his name is) got the police to escort him out leaving most of the restaurant baffled and very upset. This was only one of the terrible experiences I've had there. The owner is a mean and grumpy man and the food is undercooked and brought out way later than expected. Wouldn't suggest anyone to go eat there unless they want a...
Read moreI love Mexican food. I find as many Mexican restaurants as possible and try what I can. Being half Mexican tho kinda comes at a disadvantage because my expectations are maybe set a little too high. First off I reserved a table for my wife and I. I put in the comments it was our 6 year anniversary. When we arrived, I wasn't asked about a reservation, so it didn't feel all that special, so they just sat us down. BUT that's not a big deal. The first thing I ask for in any place that serves Mexican food is do they have horchata. That's a BIG must for me. This place didn't have any so already my expectation bar went straight down. Had they had horchata they might have gotten another star (lol). The service was ok wasn't it wasn't terrible but there was no really decent service. Everyone seemed busy, and the place only had a few guests. It wasn't very welcoming. Again, it's not a big deal, but it's worth a mention. My wife ordered carnitas and I ordered carne asada. It wasn't a long wait for what we wanted, so that's a plus. The presentation was pretty good. The food was surprisingly decent, not all that flavorful it needed a little salt but to my surprise it was ok. The price was better than expected. Would we go back? Probably not, but who knows? Maybe we will try the tacos and see how that goes. But for now it will be a while before we return. They had a guy playing music, so the live music was pretty cool that boosted the atmosphere. Oh and BTW come on with the paper straws blah plastic straws are far...
