Zapata’s Mexican Restaurant in Alma is not just a dining destination; it’s a vibrant celebration of the rich culture and diversity that the Hispanic community—and all minority groups—bring to our town. In a time when these communities are often threatened, it’s more important than ever to support and uplift them. My husband proudly served in the Navy for 24 years to protect the values our country was founded upon—values that honor immigrants and acknowledge the history of our nation.
Every visit to Zapata’s reminds me of the strength and resilience of these communities. The food is always delicious, and during my last visit, I had the chicken pablano dish, which was hands down the best I’ve ever had! The portion was so generous that it was three times what I could eat—a true testament to the hospitality and generosity of the restaurant.
The staff at Zapata’s are not only courteous but also warm, genuine, and kind-hearted individuals who create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who walks through the door. They deserve so much more recognition and support for the incredible work they do.
Thank you, Zapata’s, for not only providing amazing food but for being a pillar of our community. Your presence enriches our lives, and I look forward to many more meals in this fantastic restaurant! Let’s continue to celebrate and support the diverse cultures that make our...
Read moreThe atmosphere was great, and so was the service. Unfortunately, the food was not. First, they burnt the outside of my wife's steak, leaving it raw in the middle. It put her off right away. I had ordered Seafood Nachos. It tasted fine. They did replace my wife's steak with anything she wanted. She saw the seafood nachos looked good, so that's what she opted for. I believe the seafood may have been old. Later, after getting home, I felt very ill. My wife felt even worse. She broke out in hives and itching all over her body with tingling sensation. Fortunately, Benadryl brought her out of it without having to use her Epinephrine Injector. That was the last resort, then a trip to the ER. Every restaurant has a "Bad Day" mishaps what have you. Since this was the first time we had tried them, I allowed them the benefit of my own doubt. It may have just been "old seafood," and it didn't taste over or undercooked. My wife would reject it in either case. She grew up in a coastal area where fresh fish and seafood...
Read moreDecided to give this place a second chance after trying it a few months ago and not being impressed. My husband showed up 5 minutes after they opened and ordered 10 street tacos. 3 carnitas, 3 asada, 2 chicken and 2 pastor. They were literally the worst tacos I've ever had. The chicken looked like it was boiled and did not have one drop of seasoning on it, not a single speck. Honestly thats what all the meat looked like except for the pastor, which had color but no flavor. After the first time we tried this place, we swore we would never come back but decided to give it another try because they had a street taco special for Cinco DE Mayo. The corn tortillas didn't look like they had been cooked at all. If you like no flavor, dry meat and undercooked tortillas this place will be the spot for you. Otherwise try one of the other taco places in town La...
