Had to review because we were so pleasantly surprised and delighted! We had a group of 7 including a vegetarian, 2 picky teens and a four year old. We LOVED everything about our lunch. The cafe is cute and spotlessly clean and seems to be a popular lunch spot room but staff offered to rearrange tables to seat us. The menu has some standard sandwiches and some more inventive fusion items and every one of the 6 mains (two different burritos, a Philly, two turkey bacon avocados on different breads, a Cheeser with soup and an Asian salad) and one dessert we ordered were fresh, carefully prepared and presented, and delicious. The tomato bisque was as good as I’ve ever had and the delightful sesame miso dressing on my wonderful Asian salad (gorgeous, fresh kale, lettuces, shaved almonds, carrots, scallions, yum!!) had to have been house made. Meals include sides and the chip selection included my teen’s favorite Michigan Cherry barbecue variety, a nice bonus. If we were staying in town longer I’d go back and our local-ish hosts plan to...
Read moreI never leave reviews, but my experience at Blue Moon Cafe was so exceptional that I had to share my thoughts. I've been in town as a visitor for ~10 days, and ordered lunch from here nearly every day. EVERYTHING on their specialties menu was SO GOOD! Perfectly girlled, perfect temp, perfect texture, nothing soggy, very creative flavor combinations... all 10/10. You can tell they put a lot of care and love into the food they make. Also if you're ordering a warm sandwich for takeout and a cookie is in your order, they place the cookie under the sandwich in the takeout box (both items are wrapped separately, of course) so your chocolate chip cookie is WARM when you eat it! Ugh I just have nothing but glowing things to say about this place. I'll probably never return to Alpena, but if I did, you'll find me here. Blue Moon team - let me know if you ever open a spot in Seattle! I'll be your...
Read moreThis is my favourite place to go for lunch on a busy day. The food is freshly made and the ingredients are top notch. I've had the Cobb salad, Cuban sandwich, and bahn mi burrito. All of those were delicious. The salad had plenty of vegetables and the sandwich wasn't greasy. The only thing I would recommend is putting hoison sauce somewhere on the bahn mi burrito. I was missing that while I was eating. Otherwise, it was delicious.
Many people have recommended the ramen but I haven't tried it yet. Keep it up Blue Moon. We need more places like...
