We ordered from here because our usual favorite Korean spot wasn't taking online orders tonight and so we took a chance because the reviews were good. I have no idea what the other good reviews are talking about, the cheese bulgogi rice and corn cheese were GROSS and it's actually astounding at how expensive the cheese bulgogi rice dish was for how small and gross it is. My partner said his wings were decent and we both agreed the donut was the best part of the order. The 2 stars is because the donut was really good, and the chicken was fine, but the cheese bulgogi rice and corn cheese are an affront to Korean food. The corn cheese was basically canned corn with the smallest amount of plasticy mozzarella cheese melted on top that made everything super oily. The cheese bulgogi's flavor was OFFFFFF and the melted plastic-y mozzarella cheese was so off-putting looking and I was surprised by the mushrooms included because the Uber eats menu does not include them on the menu item. I see NOW that it's included on the direct website's menu, but it wasn't on UE so that was a nasty surprise. Yuck yuck yuck. Come for the donut, avoid...
Read moreI was excited that they opened another location but I was disappointed with the chicken wings. We only ordered the half soy garlic and half plain wings to go. PROS: the size of the wings were huge, crispy, and hot. CONS: the chicken wings itself doesn't have any seasoning. At least season the wings itself. For the soy garlic, there wasn't any strong garlic or soy sauce taste. They coated the wings too lightly. I was worried that they would be too salty according to other reviewers. Overall, I hope they improve the salt vs not enough flavor with their wings. I don't feel like driving out to Fayetteville for Bonchon wings. If they want to compete with the other korean chicken place down the street, they need to improve their flavors.
Update: I went back to try this location again with two of my friends. My friends are used to the other location. The flavor of the chicken wing itself was improved and had more sauce on the wings. They were hot, juicy, and crispy. Thank you for the improvements and we will...
Read moreI’ve been waiting for Bonchon to open up for months and was so excited when they finally did this past Wednesday.
Pros: friendly, fast, good location, chicken with great crisp, even hours later
Cons: holy moly the soy garlic was SO salty! Cubes of radish were not cut consistently (dead give away the owners are not Korean)
I wanted to love the chicken so much. Given it was their first day, I will definitely be going back again to give them another try. I truly hope they tweak the saltiness level of the soy garlic because I’ve been to multiple Bonchon locations out of state and this is not what sold me to Bonchon when I fell in love with them in the first place.
The texture was great, just hoping the salt level can be lessened as it was overpowering the entire experience.
I can’t wait to give them another try and try the other flavors.
So excited for Bonchon to have...
