We have used this company multiple times, for many different events. Unfortunately, our most recent interaction was extremely disappointing. We placed a custom order and sent multiple color references for the cupcake icing color. Our cupcakes were supposed to have pink icing (for a baby shower) and the invoice that we received from smallcakes confirmed that the icing was supposed to be pink. The cupcakes that we received had white icing, not pink, and this was not realized until reaching the venue of the event. We made small cakes aware of their mistake and also sent pictures of the cupcakes we received to show evidence of their error. Melody responded by saying "I can assure you that the cupcakes were pink when they left small cakes Alpharetta." I don't know if she expected us to believe that, but I can assure you that we did not order color-changing icing. Her condescending tone and refusal to correct her mistake were very unprofessional. Melody did not apologize or show an ounce of regret for providing a product that did not adhere to the invoice. After years of patronizing this establishment, we will not return.
UPDATE: Melody DID NOT offer a store credit, just repeated that they would not provide a refund. When I inquired about a store credit, Melody said that I would have to return any remaining cupcakes so that she can throw them away and that she would only provide a credit for the number of cupcakes that I returned for her to throw away, despite the fact that I had already paid for them. Further, I never stated that the cupcakes were "beautiful." In addition to the terrible customer service, she is now being dishonest in her response to this review. The bottom line is that we purchased custom cupcakes with a specific color, the invoice included the correct color, and we were provided cupcakes that were the incorrect color. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, Melody responded with arrogance, condescension , and an extremely bad attitude. THIS IS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LACK OF ANY ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR MISTAKE!! If 25+ people see WHITE frosted cupcakes and you look at photos of the same cupcakes and insist that they are PINK, something is VERY WRONG with the way you do business!!
As "beautiful" as the cupcakes were, they were not the PINK color that was requested with the submission of the event invitation to match the pink flowers. PINK was the color for the entire event. A simple apology was not even offered initially until after this review. Not even an offer of a credit towards a future order for a loyal repeat customer! MELODY would not even admit to the fact that the cupcakes were white and not pink and you still don't seem to want to take accountability for your mistake! Website limitations: I tried placing a special order for my son through the website, but it was not possible, as the site does not allow special requests online. Lack of willingness to help: I called back, explained the problem, and politely asked if they could help me place the order over the phone for my sonâs school birthday celebration. We practically begged for assistance, but the response was unwilling and unfriendly. Eventually, the call ended abruptly, and I had no choice but to place a simple order through the website. Pick-up issues: Today, when I arrived to pick up the orderâafter clearly stating earlier that I needed it by 11 a.m. for the school celebrationâI was told I would have to wait until 12 p.m. because that was the time on the ticket. Unpleasant in-store atmosphere: Inside the bakery, there are two tables where customers could sit and enjoy a cupcake, but the atmosphere is so unwelcoming that you feel like an inconvenience just by being there.
