J Christophers — Restaurant in Alpharetta

Just left this J Christopher's location with my wife because we felt so disrespected here. Came in on a Sunday at 11:15am to a half full restaurant. FWIW, this was our first ever J Christophers experience.

We were offered a table in the middle of the floor and I asked for a booth or half booth because there was a lot of foot traffic around the middle of the restaurant. We saw 3-4 empty half booths next to the window but they needed to be cleared. We said OK and proceeded to wait. No one was sent to clear those tables.

While waiting I saw an empty booth on opposite wall, already cleared. We waited a few more minutes and when I saw the host again, I asked her if the empty booth against the wall was reserved. She said no so I asked if my wife and I could have that and she said sorry, we have sections.

Now, I may not know the restaurant business very well but in every other eatery I've been to in my life, if a table is open and it's not reserved, it was the policy to give that to waiting diners than to keep them waiting. Was it because we were the only Asians in the place? I'll never know because we left and went to another brunch location.

Lesson to be learned here: don't keep your customers waiting longer than they need to but if that's necessary, don't make them feel that keeping them waiting so you can better distribute your tips is a...

Bright and nicely decorated atmosphere…have been here a ½ dozen times but last two times were not very good.
