Horrible take-out experience and worse customer service. If you want an enjoyable meal and reasonable customer service, stay far away from Lin's. It's obvious to me why I've seen so many service-based complaints for Lin's on Windward.
I ordered about $50 dollars worth of takeout from Lin's for our family takeout night. When I arrived to pick up my take-out order, I was surprised to find all of the food I ordered tightly packed into one bag. I took a peek in the bag and everything seemed to be in order. Beef with broccoli, sesame chicken, two egg rolls, a large shrimp egg drop soup, two small wonton soups, and an order of fried wonton. I was surprised that they combined the rice for two entrees into one rice container. I couldnt help but wonder if they left one out just to get it all to fit in one bag. I carefully carried the bag to my car and drove home. When I got home and grabbed the bag out of the car, the bottom of it was wet. One of the tightly packed soup containers was open and spilling in the bag. Strike one. I got the food inside and unpacked it. Right away I noticed the broccoli was a dark brownish green instead of the bright green I'm used to seeing when I order from other restaurants. It tasted as bad as it looked. Strike 2. The fried wontons I ordered were stale and very hard to chew. I had to spit them out. My wife tried them and had the same reaction. Strike three. When I order from other Chinese food restaurants I'm used to getting a container of rice for each entree ordered. Here they gave me one to share across two entrees.
This was the most dissapointing takeout experience I've had that I can remember, especially knowing that it cost me $50. I understand that it's possible they were having a bad night. Maybe it was really busy so the quality suffered. Initially I didn't even want to call to complain, but that $50 dollar waste was hard to swallow. My wife insisted I should call, if only to let them know so they could be more mindful about their customer's experiences. This is where it really gets bad.
As I mentioned, I can appreciate that they may have just had a bad night for whatever reason, and surely if I just called to inform them of my experience with them they would at least listen and perhaps apologize for the bad experience. That's typically how a respectable business is run. I wasn't looking for a refund or free meal, I just wanted to let them know about my experience. What I got was a manager who told me "The food is better when it's eaten in the restaurant." "We always pack the food properly" and they "don't know what happened to my bag after I left." "The broccoli was overcooked because of the drive home and the wontons were stale and hard to chew because of "the steam from the soups". Basically it was all my fault for ordering take out. Right. Except that I've been ordering take out Chinese food for decades and this is not a typical experience.
The entire time I was on the phone I remained calm and just wanted to give the restaurant manager a chance to hear my complaint and offer a reasonable response. What I got instead was worse than the food. Apparently, what I was supposed to do was repack the food, leave my family and drive back immediately to discuss the possibility of receiving some kind of credit. It was obvious from the dismissive bad attitude of the manager on the phone that he would have just blamed me for the bad food in person. I was shocked at the complete dismissal of my experience and the lack of interest in a customer complaint. When I told him they'd lost me as a customer for their response, the manager I spoke to responded with "it's your loss" and hung up the phone.
Disgusting...
Read moreI don't even know where to begin. I would give it no stars if that was an option. I wish I would have looked up the reviews before deciding to try the place today because the reviews about the unbelievably RUDE owners and staff are as accurate as they could get. Today my boyfriend and I went to have a nice dinner together. We were in the mood for chinese and figured we would give them a try. We were not greeted when we walked in. Our server was not friendly in the slightest. He did not smile, he did not ask how we were, he did not greet us - he simply asked what we wanted to order. When we told him, he wrote it down and walked off while writing it. When we left, we were handed a piece of paper that had scribbled words and numbers on it. I couldn't quite understand the breakdown of the prices so I went to the owner at the front desk and asked for help understanding it. He gave me a rude look and just pointed to what it said and read the numbers off to me. We were upcharged for something that we should not have been, so we politely asked why. My boyfriend asked why no one mentioned it to us and the owner coldly said "you didn't ask." Why would we ask if we were initially told it wouldn't be a problem??? Then my boyfriend said we should have been told - mind you, neither of us are being rude or aggressive when speaking with this man - and the owner decides to stare us down. Yep - you read that correctly. He actually went quiet and stared straight at us and would not take his eyes off of us. He slammed the receipt down in front of us to be signed while still staring silently and rudely at my boyfriend. It was the strangest thing I have ever experienced and we left not understanding what the hell we just experienced. He did not say a single word. I eventually asked if he had something to say and he continued to stare. He stared as we walked out as well. Did not say thank you and did not say to have a good day. He literally just stared us down. The owner and his staff are the most impolite, unwelcoming, unprofessional people we have ever come across. Do not eat here. I'm begging you - just save your money and choose somewhere...
Read moreWorst service ever - I've been coming to Lin's restaurant on and off for the past 5 - 6 years. It's not the best Chinese food or service, but it's close to home and work.
I was there with my family the other night, and I ordered egg drop soup, and to my surprise, I found a big piece of shrimp in it, which I'm allergic to. When I asked the waiter about the shrimp and mentioned I'm allergic, he responded rudely "so you want it or not". My response was "of course I didn't want it". I guess he didn't like that because we sat there for about another 20 minutes and never got our food.
I decided to walk up front and talk to the owner about the waiter's rudeness. I was shocked at the owner's response, that it was my fault because I should have checked the menu, which says their egg drop soup has shrimp......
I let the owner know that he's definitely lost a long time customer, and his response was "that's ok, we've been in business for a long time and have plenty of customers".
It's pretty clear to me that if he has no regard for a long time customer, he really doesn't have any regard for any of his...
