Do not go here!!!! Wow...this place... about 7 pm I decided that I wanted a burger and a couple of drinks. I'm in the process of moving to Orlando and just wanted to be around people I guess. So me and my disabled daughter go in. I'm in a Disney outfit that brand new cost around 70 plus dollars and my daughter is in a 300 dollar stroller wagon. I have the newest Samsung. I say this as I feel it's important to the way I was treated. I may not have looked like a million bucks but I didn't think I looked poor either....I find a place out of the way of the various pool tables and what not. A waiter cones over, I ask what ciders they have on tap (yelp shows them having a few) they have one and I ask to try it first and get my daughter a coke. He comes back with the coke and the sample and leaves. 10 mins later comes back again and I let him know that I'll just take a capt n coke with a lime. He looks at me a bit weird and says with a lime. Yes please. He comes back with a menu and a coke with lime, but walks away quickly. I'm puzzled as he brought it in one of those large red plastic glasses that no one ever puts booze in. It takes me a bit to get his attention and I let him know that he he must have misunderstood me and I wanted a captain (rum) n coke. That's where it gets really weird!!!!! He says do you wanna start a tab. Not today, I'm just going to eat and have a couple of drinks, no biggie, right...right...noooo. he walks away. A good 15 mins goes by and the bartender comes over and says I understand you don't wanna start a tab. Ummm, correct. She says we'll you either need to give me your credit card or pay up front. Umm what???? I mention that this is not a bad neighborhood, do they have a lot of walkouts??? I'm very confused as to why I'm getting this confrontation over not bringing my credit card. She says something about they just have to gave it. Umm..I didn't bring one. She says then you have to cash out. So I had to pay in advance fir my drink and food. I mean, really. Like McDonald's. I had to give her the money upfront for my food!!!! WHAT???? What if wanted more drinks, or decided to add an app later....so I do, I get a burger. It was good. I had finished my drink long before the food came through. No one stopped and asked if I wanted another. No one came by to see how the food was. Nothing. I'm still in shock. I ended up leaving after I ate and went to another bar and grill for a few drinks. I generally tip 25%, I'm nice. I'm not sure what prompted them to act that way but it was disgusting to say the least. I gave to wonder what the urgency is in wanting a CC?? As a fellow business owner I know the it costs a business between 2 7 and 3.5% of the amount rang up on a CC...so either they were discriminating against my daughter or me or they are doing something with...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Kiwis Tonight
As a long-time patron of Kiwis, I’ve always considered it a favorite spot to unwind and enjoy time with friends and co-workers. However, my experience tonight left me deeply disappointed and questioning whether I’ll return.
I was the designated driver for the evening and had only one drink, while my two friends each had two drinks and one shot. We were having a great time—dancing, playing pool, and enjoying the atmosphere. When my friends went to order another round, they were abruptly told they were cut off. Confused, I approached the manager to understand the reasoning, as none of us were showing signs of intoxication or behaving inappropriately.
The manager explained that my friends “couldn’t keep their balance,” to which I responded that they were simply dancing. Dancing, by nature, involves movement and energy, and it’s unfortunate that this was misinterpreted as inebriation. What was most frustrating was the lack of any further investigation or effort to clarify the situation. Instead, I was met with a dismissive shoulder shrug, as if our years of loyalty and good behavior meant nothing.
As someone who has frequented Kiwis for many years, I’ve always appreciated the vibe and service and all it's employees. However, tonight’s experience felt unfair and poorly handled. Cutting off patrons without clear justification or taking the time to assess the situation properly is not only disappointing but also alienating to loyal customers.
I hope this feedback encourages Kiwis to reevaluate how such situations are handled in the future. A little more care and attention could go a long way in ensuring customers feel respected and valued. Unfortunately, based on tonight’s experience, I’m left reconsidering whether this will remain...
Read moreHas to be my favorite bar experience in Seminole County. They have pool tables. They have darts. They have a great Guinness pour. They have genuine, kind, intelligent staff. But the food... For a BAR? It's a damned treat! We go for lunch (free pool on weekdays!), and so far I have ordered the mac and cheese, the chicken wings (some great flavors choices, like Garlic Parmesan and Lemon Pepper Butter), potato skins, spinach artichoke dip, Guinness Chili, Beef Taco Salad, Tater Tots, New Zealand Meat Pies, New Zealand Burger, and the Philly. Not ONE dish has been a bust, yet.|
Today we tried the Roast Beef Reza, which in addition to a solid chunk of layered slice roast beefs had spinach on it, and crispy/chewy bacon... TONS of taste in this sandwich! Served on a soft hoagie roll, we opted for a side of sauteed spinach, you can see how good that was.
Fish & Chips. The fish was piping hot and flaky-thick, the fries were acceptable and really just a way to deliver tartar sauce to my face, and the tots, perfectly fried and more delicate than school lunch fare has any business being, served with a side of blue cheese, were utterly snarfed.
It's more bar-bar after 9pm, but kids are welcome until then. The bathrooms were cleaner than a hospital, the music was great, everyone was accommodating and checked in on us often without being pushy, and the whole vibe here is just relaxed, cool, competent, clean oasis amidst the white hot blast of noise and traffic of...
