I was disgusted with the treatment received from this establishment. We came to celebrate a birthday at tibby's. First time there. Had a party of 14. Around 4pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was near empty. We were told we had to wait 25-30 minutes for one other large party of 12 to leave first. We waited with no complaints until we were taken to the our table, 30 minutes later. Our table was in the back of the restuarant by the restrooms and was divided into 2 separate tables. After waiting for 30 minutes in a restaurant with 3 parties of 5 or less this was a bite of WTH. When we asked can we have the tables together? The hostess said let me check went were we can see the assistant/department manager "Erica" be rude and tell her no. I ask to speak with the manager. Erica came over rudely and told us basically we were an inconvenience for not making a reservation and to not cause an issue as this is the best that could be done and proceeded to walk away. I was so upset I called and wanted to speak with a manager right away which TJ sweet and respectful apologize, takes my information down to provide to Hector whom is on the business cards as a partner. TJ offered to comp our appetizers for the inconvenience. However, the situation doesn't get better as I see Erica and what she was doing with our waitress. Spectical about eating here at this point but TJ was sweet so we decided to stay. Our waiter takes our full parties order. Another party of 10 or so comes in. Some how one half of our party gets their food and the other half is told a large order was placed before our order so we would have to wait a little, if you guess it, it was the party of 10 or so that got their food before we did. Mind you it is almost 7pm. Now the icing on the cake was a party of 15 came in (no reservations) and they rearrange tables for the entire party to sit together. At this point I'm over it and tell them to please bring my check for what I had instead they bring the food finally. I politely declined and asked for the check. Next day I received a phone call from Erica, saying she was calling because my number was on the desk with "no information" she wanted to double check to make sure it wasn't for a "reservation"or if something got missed. I said I provided my information for Hector as I was disappointed with the service and how we were treated. She then proceeded to tell me she was the one I had an issue with and TJ is the assistant manager who comped us the appetizers for the inconvenience. I literally said are you serious right now. Why are you calling me. I felt harassed in a way. I wouldn't be surprised if I don't receive a call from Hector. I heard such great things about Tibby's unfortunately my experience was not one that makes me...
Read moreTibby's is great! No, it's not going to satisfy the hankerings for actual Cajun food, at last not from anyone actually from the Gulf Coast. But it's got plenty of that Nola spirit and the food is objectively delicious. When I say spirit, this place is dressed from head to toe in New Orleans fashion, beads, trombones, fleurs de lis, all the way down to the the solemn Katrina Doors on the walls, turns into beautiful artwork.
Service has always been great. No complaints there. My six top got seated one night recently, my staff helping me celebrate my birthday. We get seated and I have to start translating what all these food items are to all these Peninsulans.
We start off with the simple Potato Skins (Four potato skins topped with Andouille sausage, peppered bacon & pepper jack cheese. Served with a side of sour cream). Pretty good! Crispy skin, that signature Andouille, and some heat with the peppered bacon and the pepper jack. No complaints.
For my main, I ordered the Jambalaya (Scratch recipe, Jimmy Dean®, Andouille & New Orleans Hot sausage, sautéed vegetables, spices & rice). This was a massive load of jambalaya. That's the New Orleans way, big portions for your money. This was delicious. Spicy, gooey rice, Andouille in a lot of the bites, and that big sausage on the side, cut it up and add it in, too. The only thing is that the bread was laughably small. Come on, big me some more, please.
No one at the table had had beignets before... So I had to order some, of course (Loaded with powdered sugar. 4 per order). A very good rendition! Nice, crispy squares of airy, pillowy dough. Ooey and chewy, absolutely blasted with powdered sugar. They all loved them, with good reason.
Overall, this place is great. Compared to Nola itself, its good. But compared to the dearth of Cajun food in this city, it's great. Thanks so much, Tibby....
