We stayed 3 nights in this hotel, Dec 2008. The people working there were friendly and the outside of the hotel was nice. It had a pool that was sparkling clean. The rooms are very very small, but it is an older hotel thats been renovated and the rooms are clean. I booked for $44 on priceline. The average is $89, and I would never, ever, ever, pay that for this hotel. Its a great place for a one nighter or maybe two, they have a fridge, coffee pot, iron, etc in the rooms but if your going to be there longer than two nights, might wanna think about a bigger room, especially if you have kids. I cannot bash this hotel because I think they were giving a great effort. It is run by our middle eastern friends, so the maid service could be a little better, but again, you get what you pay for. The breakfast is free, so cornflakes or bran and some muffins or toast with juice is about it. Come on people its free and its a continental breakfast. Its 100% safe and I would certainly stay there again. Now I have read some other reviews and I think I can offer a glimmer of explanation. The front desk lady, yes she is a little rough around the edges, but she tries to smile, again you get what you pay for, if your looking for Plaza service, stay at the Plaza. As far as bugs, I didnt see so much as a fly and I lived in Orlando for a few years, bugs are everywhere, yes, even in the Plaza Hotel. Now as far as smells, Ive seen this a million times where travelers gripe about the smell of rooms in Florida. If your budget is between $40 and $70 per night, odds are your going to get an older hotel that has concrete walls and floors and maybe even a ceiling (its termite proof). Fact is you are staying in one of the most humid parts of the country, its just part of the Florida exerience so get used to it. Now with smoking, we had a non-smoking room and we smoke. We went outside by the pool when no one was there because we are courteous smokers. However the hotel does have signs on the doors that say do not smoke and you can be charged, but if your sensitive to that sort of thing, ask to see your room before you are assigned, that will probably eliminate that problem. Overall, they had everything we needed for our stay. Overall they were friendly. Oh one other thing, if you are going to bring your pet, be prepared for a $10 per night extra charge, they will make you sign a waiver. I understand this because the fleas or other problems from pets. Just so you know. 1 being the worst and 10 being the best I give this hotel a 6.5 Its great for those short stays that wont break the bank. Checkout is at 12pm so I dont see how the other guy had such a problem getting out on time since if you need more time, just ask them, we did and they said no problem. Overall good place to stay as long as your not...
Read moreFirst of all let me start by saying if you stay in the nasty hotel your crazy. After all the running we had to do we were going to settle in for the night. When all of a sudden my sister said what is that!!! she quickly stepped on it and said is that what I think it is? I picked it up with a tissue and it was a ROACH!!! I was so skived out. Not only did we have no blanket to cover ourselves now we see bugs. I called front desk asked for blanket which we needed to sign for and I explained about the ROACHES in our room. She said they can clean it or change my room. At that point since they were dead all around the corners of the room I told her to clean it. When I got back to the room something told me to move all the furniture and look. OMG as I moved the table where the TV was they all started to scatter. My stomach turned and I told my sister to just throw everything in the car we were going to ask for another room. By this time I was so upset. She the front desk gave me another room key and I told her I was checking it out before I put my stuff in a different room. this nasty women give my a room right underneath the one that was infested REALLY!!!! as I investigate their I saw them running in the bathroom. I went back to complaint when all of the sudden she starts to yell at me saying that if I didn't like it to Leave. I told her she needed to refund us the money back how can you relax in a roach motel. This nasty women starts yelling at me that she is not giving us the full refund because we where there for a couple of hours well we did errands before we realized how nasty this place was. After arguing with her for several minutes she gave us half the deposit back. So everyone that would listen to me I informed them of the infested rooms and this made her angry. I saw kids and parents getting rooms I would have want someone to warn me. This place needs to be condemned so all of you that are saying this is a nice place that's a fat lie. DO NOT BOOK A ROOM THERE.!! IT"S INFESTESTED WITH ROACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NASTY so is the Front...
