Gourmet Delicious Good. Crawfish beignets we're outstanding. Truffle Mushroom Soup as well. Service Not so good this time. Menu is overly priced. If you are ready to wait a long time for your Food, then this is the restaurant for you, Far from Fast Service. Beth was not so friendly, did not introduce herself with her name, so we had to ask her for her name and took a long time to come back to our table for anything. Seemed to be bothered for anything. We did not have a reservation and requested a table on the Window but the Host rudely said All tables were reserved which is Not true, we were put in a table in the back and left, still tables on the window were available. Being Kind and Friendly to one another doesn't cost a thing. The way the restaurant runs, is a reflection on the Owner. We have Never had a Manager or even the owner stop by our table to ask us of our experience that is Benefial to owners that care about what they're customers have to say, tso they can improve . "Open Table" Reservation option needs to be added to your Reservation options. We much rather reserve through Open Table, which is more convenient for us. Give Customers options. We would like to Experience Faster and more Attemptive service, and servers not to be in such hurry to walk away. Offering a Reward Program would be nice as well, just by giving our phone number to earn rewards towards Food and Drinks. We hope to have Better & Faster service in our next visits. Great Restaurant but needs Improvements. Menu online needs to be updated, you have Entrees that you do not offer in your Restaurant menu.* Ryan as per you're request to call you, I did yesterday and spoke with Mariah, she wasn't much help and said that you were not there but would text you our number to call, never heard from you last night or today . We did our part. If you were so interested in speaking with us regarding our experience, you could have communicated with the people that answer you're restaurant calls to make them aware if one of...

We dined at Gentelin's on 12/26/18. I called for reservations for a party of 7 and told the young lady on the phone it was my wife's Birthday. She said she would let our server know. We arrived on time and were promptly seated in a small room to ourselves. Unfortunately, there was a large party in the adjoining room that was so loud we could not have a conversation so we asked to be moved. About a half hour later we were seated in the main dining room. There were two other larger groups in there that were also quite loud but this was as good as it was going to get, so we settled in.

Over all, the food was good and properly prepared. Three of us had steaks and they were all cooked correctly and very tasty. Three people ordered chicken dishes and they were also very good. My brother had the scallops and shrimp - the next day he told me the scallops were very undercooked but he didn’t want to send them back (we have both dined in many fine restaurants and understand that getting scallops right can be a delicate balance). Overall, the entrees were right on with that one misstep.

I told the server we’d like to see the desert menu for our Birthday Girl. She obviously was unaware but brought the menu. She ordered the gooey cake which was shared and delicious.

Going over the bill the next day, I noticed we were overcharged on a bisque appetiser (was $7 and should have been $5 since it was with an entree). Also, we were charged for the birthday desert. Where we’re from (Houston), desserts for the honoree at fine restaurants are typically comped, especially when you’re paying 300 bucks for the meal. So, not sure if that’s their normal policy but don’t expect any favors and check your bill before you leave.

Maybe we caught them on a really busy night because I had heard generally great reviews of this place before. Since this was supposed to be one of the best places in Alton, we had a high expectation and I’d say that...

Terrible Food. Terrible Service. EDIT: You would automatically believe that the quality of food (steak) would be tops in the area being it suggested by friends to make reservations. I ordered a 12oz Ribeye over a bed over veggies that came with a side salad. The salad was fair as my wife had same salad. The Ribeye (medium) was 50% Fat that was hard to even cut. I expect fat on a steak but I felt this was a bit excessive. I normally would have ordered a NY Strip because they were close to same price at 27$ and maybe 29$ I believe, but instead I got a Ribeye. We ordered a Side of BOB Fries and they were overdone and guess the truffle oils and parm didn't help the effort. I was just frustrated after being offered another steak because I didn't want to wait. The waitress was very courteous but was trying way too hard with her table banter to soften the situation. It is what it is. I usually go to Popeyes Chophouse for big event dinners as well as Tucker's down in Soulard. I know where to go to expect a great steak and this was not even close to a 14$ steak at a local bar. Many of my friends may still keep going but we won't. The Bar is Phenomenal! The atmosphere is good. The Restroom is in the Basement so I'll bump my rating to a 2*. Good Day...

Wow! This place is absolutely wonderful. Outstanding food options for carnivores and vegetarians! Beautiful decor. Exceptional service. I found it by hunting the internet, and the reviews were all exceptional. It was a delicious meal. I had the Aunt Jane chicken. Sooooo delicious. The breast is moist and cooked to perfection. I loved the fresh green beans and the smashed potatoes. The table gets a basket of tiny rolls with house made herbed butter that was sooo good. The waitress was engaging and very kind. She told us about half-price bottles of wine, so we each purchased our own wine. You can take the leftovers home to enjoy another day. Hubby had the portobello mushroom dish and said it was excellent. I opted to try the raspberry sorbet! It was very yummy. If we are ever in this area again, this will be the restaurant where we will stop again. It's really worth the trip!

The food was pretty the staff was nice but the food was portions was small and when they packed our food to go for us they didn’t put everything in the box. The food was dry all of it. The cheese dip wasn’t even cheesy just a bunch of non melted cheese in a bowl. The salmon was slimy but yet dry at the same time and they wouldn’t take it off my ticket so we still had to pay for the food I didn’t like nor want. But the staff was nice about all of it just couldn’t do anything about it. But they didn’t come the table often enough, we waited like 40 minutes just to get our order taken. I also didn’t like they didn’t have a drink menu even tho they had a whole bar. My man really liked the burger tho just the bun was too small for the patty. The bathroom was really hard to find too it was in the basement/ downstairs with no signs pointing you in that direction.

The servers at this restaurant are friendly and attentive, consistently great service. Sadly, when it comes to the food, the last year has been a downward slope. The menu is stagnant. There doesn't seem to be any effort to keep it fresh and interesting. The portions have always been on the small side but that issue becomes less tolerable when paired with quality lower than the price tag would suggest. The most recent meal was a failure in taste, portion size, and presentation: Three salt-saturated portabella mushroom slices set atop a 1/4 cup of spinach and green beans. Think 'hospital cafeteria' vibe. The kitchen/management did not even have enough care to acknowledge the dissatisfaction. Unbelievably lazy for a restaurant charging fine dining prices.
