Tab's Cafe — Restaurant in Alton

We were looking for a place for lunch on Saturday around Alton . I noticed Tab's Cafe had a 4.9 . This is a severe underrating . Tabs is definitely a 10 out of 5 . We noticed large portraits of blues greats on the walls and a bands instruments set up in the small place . The guys at the next table got up and took their places . The NGK band proceeded to play these guys are good really good the food was outstanding also one of the best burgers I ever had . It was way more than we had expected . My girlfreind and I go around looking for places to eat . I had picked this on maps quickly without reading what was there as we left she said to me . Well I think that is the best place we have been you hit a home run . I have to agree but it was a complete and very pleasant surprise. I highly recommend if you are hungry and around Alton Tabs is the place...

Me and my boyfriend came into Alton for the day to walk around and have lunch. We did not have set plans on where to eat, so when we came here we were rolling the dice. I loved everything about this place. The man at the front was very nice and attentive. The music was a great addition to the atmosphere. I had a bacon egg and cheese croissant, hasbrowns with cheese and my boyfriend had mozzarella sticks. We wanted something quick to eat and it was just that. The breakfast sandwich was perfect. A lot of breakfast places have their croissants come out with a bunch of grease like it was pressed on a grill full of grease but this breakfast sandwich was not like that. It was perfectly baked and cooked and not overdone with butter or oil. If I lived here, it would be hard not to eat...

Decadent chicken and waffles. Loaded philly cheese steak. Unexpected options like cream of wheat and root beer floats. That is a part of the allure that Tabs Cafe has. The rest is in the atmosphere: R&B, Jazz, and Soul music play softly throughout the space, the smell of delicious cooking and the murmur of conversation, along with happy eating sounds makeup the whole experience that all add up to the feeling of coming home after long time and having a meal with you family. This is a place that will stick with you long after your meal is finished. This is the kind of place you visit over and over again when your homesick, or just to remember the way your Momma made your cream of wheat. I sincerely hope this place stays for a long time and makes a home for many people...
