Guadalajara — Restaurant in Altoona

So the food looks amazing right? Wrong!! This is some of the worse Mexican food I've had. My whole trip to Iowa the food was disappointing but this was horrible. The steak , all the meat really was extremely overcooked. Overcooked to the point it was rough to chew. My husband ordered a burrito as always and requested carne asada. So did I with my fajita's. We got 2 very different meats. They tasted nothing alike nor did they look anything alike. They weren't even cut the same. I asked for cheese (which should have came with the side plate of fajitas along with lettuce, rice, beans, guacamole, etc. we were charged an extra $4 for a pinch of sprinkle cheese. The amount was equivalent to an 1/8th of a cup if not less. We requested some extra things but did not get them but definitely were charged like sliced Jalapeno's. We were told later on that they couldn't do it. So you can't add jalapenos if I ask? Yeah I was over it. When I asked if they had rancheros or anything with meat and cheese over rice they looked at me as if I was crazy. What mexicam restaurant doesn't carry rancheros? They said they don't even know what I'm talking about and have never heard of it. But not in a respectful way. So Pretty much $60 for what you see in the picture plus sprinkle cheese and water because they didn't have anything that wasn't carbonated according to the water. They also don't carry any authentic Mexican drinks like Jamaica according...

LITERALLY the worst dining experience I had ever had! First of all i have an allergy and made sure with the server that what i was ordering did not include what i am allergic to and it came out wrong! then when i let them know he walked away and didn’t ask if i needed it remade or something new. then once I HAD TO ASK for a new meal he brought it out without a problem. he then did not check on us a single time. once we ended up asking for the check he WALKED AWAY in the middle of me explaining how the checks needed to be split and ended up getting all the checks wrong. we did end up asking for the manager and the GENERAL MANAGER came out accusing us of wanting free food which was not the case. We simply just wanted to let him know how bad of an experience we had. As we are talking to the manger he is sitting there talking with us and repeating everything we say in spanish to our server and he’s just sitting there laughing at everything we are saying. he said “i have to deal with you people all the time and everybody just wants free stuff”. first of all this was our first time there lol. then once we get the CORRECT bill they ignored us for the rest of the time we were there. I asked for the owners number since the general manager was absolutely no help, they told us they couldn’t help...

Update: I was invited by coworkers and this changed my experience. Food was actually good today. Great service, our waiters was funny too! Good did come out too fast but it cooked well. Still need to add Tortas Ahogadas though, it needs more “state of Guadalajara food”, Birria and tortas ahogadas!

Previous review : 1 year ago Service was great. The girl was helpful and attentive. 5 stars for her and half of the staff that knows how to smile. But the food… honestly it’s not Really something I recommend. Well that’s coming from a Mexican it’s not good Mexican food. Oh and what kind of Mexican Restaurant doesn’t have a spicy salsa. The guacamole didn’t even have 1% of spicy. The tortillas are obviously microwaved. The food was out in less than 5mins, which only means one thing, it’s reheated. I get it some customer like food fast. But this isn’t a fast food restaurant so … When someone brings you a hot plate, it’s means that whole plate was microwaved. The carne asada plate was alright. The carnitas were not good like at all. I asked for a taco for my daughter and it had lettuce, I didn’t want Taco Bell. If you are looking for Mexican Authentic food this is not for you.
