I was on crutches when I entered the restaurant, I was approached by a young lady and a young man to my understanding they were servers, I kept having to repeat my order, and if I wasn't sure about something I apologized and said please give me a minute to contact my fiancee mom to get clarification on the way she would like her meals to be made, the young man who sarcastically said after I asked if he was a server said to me no Im a host and rolled his eyes, then would get irritated at me for having to get clarification on the orders, so I asked for a piece of paper and pen to write everything down he gave me an annoyed look and that is when the manager approached us, and handed me the piece of paper and ink pen to write down my order as I was instructed on how the order was to be placed. I asked if would be okay for me to sit as my foot started to throb I am on crutches. The male host waited til the manager walked away then said very rude and disrespectful there isnt anyone stopping you from sitting, I was trying to be courteous and respectful because the host was behind me and I would have had to turn and face him, the male host was rude, disrespectfull, and his treatment towards me was completely uncalled for and I didn't appreciate being disrespected and made to feel like I was bothering him by placing an order, then when I asked him if he could maybe give me a time frame he snapped at me while looking at the tablet it'll be around 30-45 minutes with an attitude and then walked away. I paid for our order and went to sit down he approached me disrespectful said where is the paper you wrote everything down on? I looked up and said oh I do apologize here let me get it out of my purse, he snatched off the table and walked away. He reappear with my order, didn't offer to assist me taking to the car, although im on crutches, just set it down and walked away. There was a young man he had a dark blue shirt on, he rang up the order and brought me the card and receipt. The food: 2 12 oz tbone steaks were supposed to be rare, they were medium rare, the 2 orders of okra were not fresh they were cold and chewy, the 10oz rib eye was well done even though specifically asked for medium rare. Last minute I reorder the fried mushrooms and those were over cooked. This was not a good experience at all. Something I learned a long time ago is if wasn't for the guests at that restaurant or customer at a retail store we wouldn't have a paycheck. And a little life lesson ive stuck with for past 15 almost 16 years is Attitudes are contagious, is yours...
Read moreAs a former restaurant manager, I have a lot of sympathy for the environment in restaurants these days, but my experience at Fred’s was just terrible frankly. Unfortunately our server was pulling double duty as bartender and server on a Sunday evening so I’m sure he was stretched thin. However, based on my observation, he had 1 table (ours) and about 6 people at the bar. In his defense, I have not idea how many other patrons were ordering alcohol, but he definitely needed some help. My MR ribeye came to the table properly marked, but it was well done and had the wrong side. Mistakes happen so I patiently waited for the server to return, but after nearly 10 minutes, he didn’t so another member of our party flagged down another server who ultimately looked confused but did take my plate back to get it recooked. No one else visited our table after the food was delivered at all and the other 3 people in my party were completely finished before I decided to get up and request to speak to a manger. After several minutes I was connected to Noah who seemed to be aware of the situation and told me my new steak was taken to the table. Ok fine, but that wasn’t the entire point, bad service, miscooked food and an air of apathy made this a terrible experience. I boxed my food and left paying full price without so much as an apology, just the explanation that the server was also the bartender. I was just traveling through so I don’t have to worry about returning, but hopefully my experience is a learning opportunity for the restaurant for...
Read moreFor the price, the amount of food you'll be served, the quality and the service, Fred's simply can't be beat.
My friend and I decided to try Fred's and we're both so glad we did. She had the chicken fried steak dinner ($4.69!!! Seriously?) and I had the 10oz ribeye with a side of fried okra. We also ordered the Texas Toothpicks and Fried pickles as appetizers.
The meals arrived in a very timely manner. Everything was cooked just right and the flavor of all the dishes was excellent. My steak was cooked properly and was tender and juicy. The grilled veggies were just awesome! Fantastic flavor and grilled pretty much to perfection. The appetizers were great. The chicken fried steak dinner was not only very good it was likely large enough to feed two people. The "side" of okra was heaped into a plastic basket (like you'd get served a burger and fries in at a burger joint) and was easily enough for 3, maybe 4, people.
We both ate our fill and still managed to need 3 to-go boxes.
Unfortunately, I don't recall the name of the young lady that was our server but she did an outstanding job. Attentive but not overly so. Everyone was friendly and prompt with anything we needed.
Needless to say, after this experience Fred's will be our "go-to" place for dinner when the girlfriend comes to town. I can't recommend it...
