It was a nice place. I didn't know the restaurant's name until I saw the menu because there was no sign on the street with the name. A young waiter did well with the five of us ordering. The only mishap was that my sopapillas were brought out as an appetizer instead of the dessert. Two of us had the special Quesabirria tacos that weren't on the menu. They were delicious! Thank you for all the chips and salsa we ate while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. By the way, I was told about the lizard early in the evening, and then it showed up!

Love this place! Very authentic and delicious food. Been going there off and on for 24 years! They used to be located next to jack in the box. They have great bartenders, specifically Shae, the other woman is great also. (I apologize I dont remember her name!) It took one visit, for Shae to remember our order and drinks. She really helps make the experience here. On top of the food being delicious, all ready. My husband and I come here regularly now. We get the shrimp salad with orange slices on the side. Yummy! Thank you, and God bless!

Not really even ok. Food is mediocre at best. Stopped in for menudo and honestly, might be the worst menudo Ive ever had. My bowl was almost entirely bone! And the chile was weak. Also, $10 for a bowl of bones!? Their breakfast tacos left much to be desired, save for the homemade tortillas. Service is attentive and the ambiance is great. But the food is meh. Also, health inspection sign says grade of B but a pen was used to add that a reinspection was an A. Seems suspect. Anyways, avoid. Theres better mexican food around.

Eh. I try to shy away from criticizing restaurants and fast food since reviews can be all over the place depending on what day you go or, what time you go or, even depending on who's working. So, do take the following with a grain of salt:

I'm a fan favorite of 3 Mexican Restaurants: 1) Rosa Mexicano Washington DC 2) 3 Margaritas Thornton Co and, 3) Jacalas San Antonio, Tx. To me, those 3 are my yard sticks. I'm always looking to add to these favorites unfortunately, LaTapatia does not fit the bill. Parking was excellent. Staff was friendly and, the manager was very on point! Mood and atmosphere was great. The restaurant was not overly crowded or loud. Unfortunately, the food was not something to write home about. The chips were hot and fresh but, getting refills at our table took some effort and time. Also, there was not a variety on salsa. I like extra hot but asking for it caused the staff to look at me like I had 2 heads. By the time I recieved it... my food had arrived.

Since we are talking about food... I ordered a cheese enchilada plate with rice and beans. Nothing really critical here, I can't honestly complain. However, I can't really say anything good either. It was just so so. The Margaritas were standard price yet, very good. Have your usual wide selection of flavors and choices of Tequila.

One final criticism: This was expected, by me, to be more of an upscale type of restaurant, due to the prices yet, what did we have for napkins? Essentially a paper towel roll from (my guess) HEB.

Again, sorry that the critique is all over the place. Why I don't like doing reviews of food establishments. So, why do this one? Not really sure? Something here was memorable, that might be saying something. Give the place a try. I think it can be an enjoyable place under the right...

I haven't been here in a long time. I was excited me and my husband made the time on a day we had off together (which is rare) to make it here. The salsa was great, our meal not so much. We both had the Mexican Plate. The taco she'll tasted like they had been stale for a week. The taco meat tasted like it was left over from days before, dried out, no flavor, no juice at all in the also burnt tasting taco meat. The refried beans had the beginning of a slight sour taste which tells me they were starting spoil. The rice and cheese enchilada were great. Guacamole seemed like it was from a tub an not home made. Our waitress could tell something was wrong but didn't seem to care. She came by the table 1 time after dropping food off and quickly walked by at the same time asking "Is everything alright?" But kept walking didn't stop but she clearly looked at my taco with 1 bite out of it because I put it on the little plate the bowl of guacamole was on. She made you feel like it didn't matter if you told her what was wrong with the meal as she didn't stop for me to tell her. I know restaurants are suffering and you try to save and reuse what you can. But stale taco shells right after open (we came in @ 11:30 on a Tuesday) maybe taste some of your reheated product from the day before before...

My wife and I stopped in for a late dinner (9PM) on Monday night. We had a coupon from the Entertainment book. The coupon was for 50% off one dinner when another was purchased, THe coupon clearly stated the restaurants address and phone # but the manager on duty refused to recognize it as "his" coupon.I've never had problems redeeming coupons from Entertainment. It was late so we decided to go ahead and eat there. I should have gone with my first instinct and left. The service was horrible, our waitress never came and checked on us again until she gave us the check. Another waitress offered to fill my wife's tea glass but I was not offered a refill on my soda. The food was not very good. I had the beef fajita chimichanga, the beef inside was as dry as jerky and there was oil pooled underneath it. My wife had a beef fajita enchilada that was of the same consistency. It took 10 minutes to get my change back after paying the waitress who initially seated us.The service was totally unacceptable considering there were only 3 other tables seated and more than enough staff to cover it. To add injury to insult I ended up with a mild case of food poisoning. I will never set foot in this place again this is not a "real" taqueria it's Tex-mex, you could get the same food...
