I live in Amarillo and I frequent this place when I want good cheese fries. Sadly enough my last experience was less than acceptable. The service was fine at first when the girl named Stacey R. was taking our order. She was nice and very attentive, though, when our order came out we happened to be missing an order of cheese fries, which we brought to the attention of a different girl because Stacey was busy. She looked at our ticket and said she would get those right out. We went to sit down and enjoyed our meal, all the while waiting for that order...it never came. I had my boyfriend run and check on them and the same lady, once again, said they were waiting on them and "they would be right out". A total of about 30 minutes had passed from when we'd asked about them the first time, and I was done waiting because my friends were all finished eating. I was frustrated and went to the counter and asked the gentleman up there if I could just get that order of cheese fries in a to-go box. He looked me blank in the face and said, "I don't know what you're talking about." In the most rude tone I have ever heard. He just continued staring at me. I said that I had been waiting on an order of cheese fries for too long, and he asked to see my receipt. In the amount of time it took me to find it, Stacey and the other girl were whispering at the cash register looking for my receipt on their record, turns out we "didn't pay for two cheese fries"...and says the number 2 on my receipt stands for "2 people". In response, I said, "that would have been lovely to know the first two times we asked about them" and were LIED to about them "coming right out". We could have just put in an order and paid for them so I could enjoy the food I had been waiting on the entire time, whilst being reassured they "would be right out". Does Buns just say that to everyone inquiring about their food without actually checking to see if it was ordered and paid for? If you need to check a receipt and make sure someone has paid for something they're waiting for, check it THE FIRST TIME THEY ASK and don't lie. Worst customer service I've had at a restaurant in a very long time and I won't be returning! I will also be telling everyone about the bad service. There wasn't a manager to be found and everyone working was well under 20 years old. I don't...
Read moreWe decided to take my son out to eat as a family before he gets shipped out tomorrow for the Army. All of our burgers were literally pink and undercooked to some degree. I ate almost half of mine. One of my son's burgers was manageable, so he was eating his but bit into a super hard piece that we still don't know what it was, and he chipped his back tooth biting into it. My other son got the naked burger, and he ate the majority of his, and my daughter ate half of hers. My mom's burger was very pink, so I politely asked them if they could please make her another one very well done, and they did. (I don't like to take food back if it's incorrect so I didn't even bother for mine. ) Only to get it and have it even more undercooked than the first one. I politely show the young man in the blue shirt how undercooked the second burger was, and he apologized and asked if we would like a refund on our order. I just wanted to eat out as a family one last time and have a good time with no problems so, I politely told him no, that's okay, but if he could please make another burger for my mom, and if needed he could cut the burger Patti in half to make sure it is done, so he did just that. At this point, my mom is sick to her stomach, so she decides to just eat her tots, and we just take the burger to go. I wish I would have caught his name, but the young man in the blue shirt was very polite, very accommodating, and very understanding. The young lady cooking the burger patties, not so much. The other young lady with very short hair had even worse customer service. She gave me dirty looks and mumbled something while shaking her head at me, like my mom should've just eaten the bloody burger. And the young man in the Grey shirt was neutral about the whole situation, he was ok too. The upside, is that my 10 yr old son loved his chicken bites and I even ordered him more because he liked them so much. That's a huge plus because he is on the spectrum and he only likes a handful of foods and very specific at were he eats. So that was awesome. I'm still not upset, but I do wish our visit would've been good. Have a Blessed day and I hope everyone else who eats there gets fully...

So tonight I did something weird: I bought two hamburgers. Not because I’m starting a new diet (though I am open to it), but because I’m not from Amarillo and I was on a mission—find the best burger in town.
The contenders? Blue Sky (BS) and Buns Over Texas (BOT). Both got a plain, no-frills burger because I’m a purist. Also because I needed to taste the burger, not the personality of whoever slathered it in sauce.
Let’s start with Buns Over Texas. First off, solid single patty. The lettuce and onions were shredded like they just lost a fight, but in a good way. The bun? Buttery and toasted—basically the prom king of buns. I cheated a little and seasoned it myself before the first bite, but they’ve got a DIY fixin’ bar inside, so technically I was just participating in the process. BOT gave me flavor, crunch, and the mild thrill of mild customization.
Then came Blue Sky. The building looked suspiciously clean, like a place that might overcook a burger and call it “gourmet.” But I was wrong. The single patty was hefty, cooked perfectly, and had real flavor—without me having to sprinkle on anything like a bored wizard. It was ready to impress straight out of the wrapper.
Now, here’s the deal: both burgers were good. Add cheese, and we’re talking next-level. But if I had to pick one to bring to a deserted island (or just to dinner), I’m going with Blue Sky. It won on pure burger strength—no extras needed.
So yeah, go eat a burger. Just maybe make...
