My family was just passing through Amarillo, and we were craving authentic Asian cuisine. We thought this buffet was going to be a great break from all of the pasta we've been eating the past week, but we were definitely wrong.
To start off with, the restaurant itself was filled with crumbs and soup stains on the floor, seating, and tables. The bathroom was utterly disgusting. In one of the stalls, the toilet was leaking an unknown liquid, there was toilet paper stuck to the wall of the inside of the toilet bowl, and it was pretty cramped.
The food was overall cheap and not made well. The lomein was greasy that it made my chapped lips moisturized again. The teriyaki chicken was very chewy and a bit soggy. The egg drop soup also tasted old and almost spoiled, and it was runny and bland. I also tried my mom's sliced beef that was cooked in the Mongolian area, and the beef was beyond overcooked. It wasn't even well done at this point. It tastes like congratulations. After all this disappointment, I was hoping to get some decent dessert at least, but NO. I went to get icecream, and it was just a store bought tub of two flavors being stored in those grocery store freezers. Who knows who might've sneezed or spit in it! I decided to get jello because literally NO ONE can mess up jello, but of course, I was wrong. The jello didn't even have the texture of jello. It was gummy. It felt like what the texture might be if I bit into aerogel or something. My mom got herself a small cube of chocolate cake. I had high expectations because the presentation looked nice. Again, I was wrong. The cake had been sitting out for too long that it was dry, and what seemed to be dense frosting turned out to be light and airy smoothed out chocolate whipped cream. Disappointing. Even the water tasted weird! The only thing that actually tasted good were the buttered potatoes, though they were pretty greasy and a bit salty.
Overall, I do NOT recommend this place if you want to try Asian food. I personally feel bad for the residents in Amarillo, for they have not tasted good food. As an Asian, this is definitely overrated because it seems like no one has ever been outside of the area and tried something new. Definitely overrated.
P.S: Don't eat at Big Texan either, it's steak isn't...
Read moreThis review is solely based off the fact that this is a AYCE CHINESE BUFFET. Reading through some of these reviews below it's like y'all expected a 5 star restaurant knowing you were going to a local chinese buffet. Seriously, some of y'all that attack this place for all the reason that y'all do seem to forget simply.. you're at a ayce chinese buffet. Get a grip on yourself, I know some of y'all dont get out much and this may be the meal and experience you've been looking forward to but by no means does this place deserve the slander it gets. Let's truly review this.
This is the best chinese buffet in town. Don't believe me? Go try Lin's and let me see what you think after you've puked your stomach out and are no longer sick. This is the type of place I go to once every quarter and I get there right at 11am when they open. I have NEVER had a bad food, service or cleanliness issue. The majority of the staff seem like they barely speak english but you're going to a chinese restaurant in racist panhandle Texas so you should seriously be considerate and not be so hard on these people just trying to do their best. You speak 1 language and this is probably their 2nd or 3rd. Be kind, don't be inconsiderate. I have never gotten sick from this place in 3 years(knock on wood). Also, if you come to Amarillo and your first idea of authenic chinese is a buffet.. You're lying to yourself and setting yourself up for disappointment. There are essentially no chinese restaurants in town that aren't fusion based. Once again, don't expect something because you want it to be a certain way and as a result you leave this place a bad review because you weren't honest with yourself.
Love this place for the 4 times a year that I do go. Keep...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped at Asian Buffet while passing through town for dinner, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointing experience. I'm giving a one-star rating due to serious concerns with both sanitation and customer service.
During our meal, a young child—around 4 or 5 years old—was allowed to run unsupervised throughout the restaurant. While I had no issue with him playing in the front lobby, it became a problem when he was freely allowed to yell, run in and out of the dining area, and even enter the food-serving areas.
The situation became completely unacceptable when I witnessed this child dipping his fingers repeatedly into the chocolate and vanilla puddings, licking his fingers between dips, and using his hands to scoop out fried rice. He also picked up a piece of chicken, took a bite, and then dropped it back into the serving pan. This was not only unsanitary but also highly disturbing to watch.
I brought this to the manager's attention, but all she offered was a quick apology, stating, “He is the son of a customer,” without taking any action to address the issue or ensure food safety.
We won’t be returning, as this experience made it clear that sanitation and customer service are not priorities at this...
