This is the kind of place where you don't want to admit the food is mediocre because of the price point, but I ended up leaving with an empty stomach and an emptier wallet.
We all ordered something different, both crabs were ok, the fried shrimp was meh, and the catfish was so dry it was almost like eating a cracker. Yet for both their nasty fried dishes, they had the audacity to charge $15 and $16. This place is absolutely terrible at making basic food.
The sides are just a potato, corn, or a sausage. You can have all 3 for an up charge of course, that depends on how much crab you buy. What's worse is the side items are supposed to be cooked with the crab, so when you order the fried dishes, they are boiled with no seasoning and are bland as hell.
I know this is a crab place, but for as small as their menu is, they should be able to fry a frickin catfish easy. If you go here, the fried food is laughably terrible, and the crab isn't spectacular. Honestly, there are other seafood places in town who can do a lot better job at cooking seafood in general. Go to Sam's Southern Eatery instead, much bigger portions, way cheaper, and much better quality. No crab is worth enduring the...
Read moreThis style restaurant is what I like to call seafood in a bag. I am from DFW, working here in town and decided to stop by due to a friend's recommendation, we have many of these back home. This particular one tho, was the best seafood in a bag I have been in. The spice sauce is a perfect combination of flavor and heat ( I got mild lemon pepper) Scallops were cooked perfectly. Half pound of scallops and half pound of shrimp was enough to fill me up.. and I can eat. Also, both managers/owners are very friendly and talk to you like they have known you for years. It was a pleasure to meet them and eat here. Amarillo businesses are struggling (from what I see in a week's time) to get customers. Come try this place out. It's totally worth it. You won't be...
Read moreA couple of things to know about Crackin' Crab: Expect to use your hands and get messy (they do give you gloves and plenty of moist towelettes, though) The dishes are not cheap, BUT you will definitely get a ton of food
We came here during lunch time on a Tuesday, we had the place to ourselves. The music was a bit loud at first, but they turned it down. The restaurant was VERY clean, which was nice.
Looking at the menu, the prices kind of caught me off guard, but keep in mind, they base their prices off the current market rate of seafood, so there will be fluctuations.
Price aside, we got a TON of food. Not bad. We were completely stuff with leftovers for another meal. This place was a nice find. Will...
