Recommend for breakfast or even just coffee and a baked good. Kind of easy to miss as it's a bit back away from the road; just turn as if you're going to the Shell station and you'll see it behind to the side. It's cafe/diner style, so you order and pay for your food at the front, then seat yourself; don't forget to grab silverware from the table in the corner too. The staff is very friendly and open to conversation - I guess you could call it southern hospitality. The food is definitely better than your standard fare, the French toast is above average and the eggs are fresh cooked. The bacon was the most surprising - I think they might use jerky seasoning, and they have specialty jalapeno bacon that was just way too spicy for me. I couldn't stomach it, but there's no denying that it was high quality. They only serve regular house coffee (nothing fancy like lattes such) but the house coffee tastes great. They provide real half & half, which is an awesome break from all the fake crap. Another nice perk here is their lemon infused water, which I was informed they use fresh lemons from Arizona to prepare. No sweetener in it so it's just a straight refreshing citrus taste. I arrived right when they opened so no telling how busy they are throughout the day, but it wouldn't surprise me if they are, especially on Saturdays. Definitely recommend, perfect for dates and...
Read moreStopped for breakfast while visiting Amarillo based strictly on reviews. It is very casual, you place your order at the counter and they bring it to you. The menu had lots of interesting options which makes it hard to choose for a first time visitor. Most of the choices had New Mexico inclination. My brother had the biscuits and gravy which came with scrambled eggs. Wife had the green Chile chicken enchiladas with a cup of the soup of the day. I had the Sante Fe eggs Benedict. After sampling mine and my wive's meal I was blown away: far and away the best food I have had outside of Sante Fe and it might even be better than that. The owner came out to visit with us and explain how she developed the restaurant and menu. This is, also, a bakery and has several options of fresh baked pastries which were delicious. The water served with the meal was a cucumber water which surprised me at first sip but was refreshing and enjoyable. The coffee was gourmet piñon nut flavored and strong enough to taste. This place is hidden gem in Amarillo. I told many of my friends about it and none were aware of the place. I will return to Girasol every time I am close...
Read moreMost nutritionally complete salad I have ever eaten in my life. The "My Thai" salad has the greens and veggies that usually come in a salad but they are vibrant and colorful for top notch freshness. Also, I would like to add that they, unlike most restaurants, added cashews to there salad which hold what people call "good carbs". Most restaurants try to add fresh fruit to their salads which also have "good carbs" too but have a hard time keeping the fruit as fresh as possible. This causes them to buy prepackaged fruit which hold added sugars and quite frankly make me wanna go to sleep instead of allow me to attain the energy that I desire for the day. Not Girasol, their salads are top notch and I would 5/5 visit them once again. The only thing that was lacking on the salad was a portion of dairy, but I bet if you ask the nice cashier lady to add some shredded cheese, she would surely oblige and you would be set! Hope this helps as you try to choose a desired place to dine. Thank you and...
