Blue Taj is a nice restaurant but has some issues to work out. The food was very good; however appetizers were room temperature not hot. The entrees were hot enough upon arrival, but didn’t retain their heat. The metal tins did not do the job of keeping the food hot perhaps because they were not copper? The dinner plates were also cold. They should be heated so that the food can stay hot. In addition to tandori chicken would be better served on a hot skillet. There were only two staff members serving the entire restaurant, although it is a small restaurant, they seemed overwhelmed. They at least need an additional person to help bus tables. At one point, patrons waiting to be seated were asked to sit at a table that had not been bussed yet and had the last customers’ dirty dishes on it. Turning the lights down, it was very bright, and some candles on the tables would help with ambience. The chandeliers and artwork are pretty. Another issue that needs to be addressed is the fact that there is no curtain or shelter around the door so every time someone came in which was frequently with all of the door dashers, cold air came into the Restaurant. I would suggest removing the rails and the ramp in front of the door and adding a desk side area, which is protected from the cold, and would give some privacy for Door dashers to come in and not walk to the back of the restaurant Every time they needed to pick up a to go order. This was disruptive to the diners Trying to enjoy their meals. A small desk would also serve as a receiving area for customers. Diners did not know where to go when they walked in the door and waited for someone to help them. In summary this restaurant has potential but there are quite a few things that need improvement to compete with other...
Read moreUpon stepping into Blue Taj , I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The quiet ambiance set the stage for what I hoped would be a delightful culinary experience. The service was commendable, with attentive staff making us feel genuinely welcome.
Starting with the garlic naan, the initial impressions were positive. The bread was freshly baked, soft, and infused with a delightful garlic aroma. However, my expectations took a dip when I sampled the chicken tikka masala and butter chicken.
Both dishes, while good, lacked the distinctive Indian flavors I was eagerly anticipating. The spices seemed muted, and the overall taste profile didn't quite live up to the vibrant and aromatic Indian cuisine I've enjoyed in the past at another local restaurant . It was a letdown as I had hoped for a more authentic and robust experience.
Although the food fell slightly short of my expectations, I must acknowledge the positive aspects of the dining experience. The service was prompt and friendly, contributing positively to our overall enjoyment. And even offered a dessert for us to try as it was our first time there . The quiet ambiance also provided a pleasant environment for conversation.
In conclusion, while the Blue Taj showed promise with its welcoming service and a nice, quiet atmosphere, the dishes, particularly the chicken tikka masala and butter chicken, could have showcased a more robust and authentic Indian flavor profile. Despite this, it's worth noting that individual tastes may vary, and others might find the culinary offerings more to...
Read moreThe Blue Taj is the real deal for top-shelf, delicious northern Indian food in a wonderful atmosphere. Have brought the family and friends here numerous times since they opened and it's now our favorite place when we need a fix of fine flavors. I'm partial to the lamb and goat (rare to find), korma or vindaloo, but have been trying to work my way through the menu. My daughter is hooked on the chicken curry, but am trying to get her to try something else. They can adjust the spice level for all palates and even my mom, who is not an adventurous eater, loved the chicken tandoori, her first experience with Indian food. For a bit of everything, the Tandoori Mixed grill is simply spectacular and a culinary home run. The salmon and shrimp in particular knocked my socks off. My neighbors loves the range of vegetarian offerings as well. Biryani was very solid and the garlic naan fluffy and tasty. For desert, if you have any room left, I've tried the Gulab Jamun and and Kheer for a perfect close to a perfect meal. Also, the prices are very reasonable for a fine dining place like this. With a friendly and attentive staff in a modern setting in the heart of Ambler, this place is a must visit. Blu Taj is brought to us by the owners of the legendary Palace of Asia which set the standard for Indian food in our area about 20 years ago (if you know, you know). Palace does mostly weddings, receptions and parties now. You'll be happy you checked...
