First, I've eaten at this restaurant over a dozen times and the food and overall experience was good. Not so must yesterday.... Knowing that there was a street festival taking place, I made a reservation and specifically requested outside seating. The restaurant did contact me via text to double check that we were still planning to keep our reservation, and I did reconfirm our reservation for four. We arrived on time for our reservation only to be told that they do not honor requests for outside dining and that if we wanted to wait for another 45 minutes, we might be able to get a table. At no point was I contacted and told that they would not honor our outdoor request. To make things worse, we walked by the restaurant 3-4 times while strolling up and down main street during the street festival. Had I known there was an issue, we could have easily arrived earlier and given our name to be placed in the queue to be seated outside. So, we decided to be seated inside. (the only reason we chose Gypsy Blue was due to the outdoor seating) Now it just gets worse - My soup was never delivered - our waiter was going to deliver it after my entree was delivered so I just cancelled it. Then my entree arrived - I requested a beet/goat cheese salad (Main dish) and optional Salmon. It arrived ($12 for the Beet/goat cheese alone, I'll post a photo) with the Salmon on the side - the beet salad portion looked a like vegetable sized portion. I actually spoke to the manager to confirm that they delivered the meal that I requested and she did confirm. Total disgrace. We dine in Ambler quite a bit and Gypsy Blue is on the top of our list, however after this experience It is now...
Read moreI ate at Gypsy Blu for lunch on the Saturday, July 25th with my boyfriend and daughter. It was their opening weekend but it didn't show. There was staff everywhere, pointing you to the bathroom and filling up water. We got buffalo cauliflower to share, I had the Gypsy Chips with brisket and cheese sauce as my meal, and my boyfriend got the Hot Mess burger. I can't speak for the burger but the cauliflower and chips were delicious. I'm not a vegetarian, but I can definitely see someone getting the cauliflower and feel like they're eating chicken wings because the buffalo sauce was that good. The Gypsy Chip were homemade and the brisket and cheese sauce was great, but didn't make the chips soggy. It was almost like poutine. We also had some spicy margaritas and my boyfriend had the Summer Breeze signature cocktail. All the drinks were great. We loved our waitress Pam and she was very accommodating to a messy one year old dipping celery in everything and anything. She grabbed us a bunch of napkins, checked on us the exact right amount, and made sure everything was coursed out perfectly. The new owner was on site, checking on guests. It seems like they thought of everything. The music was great and everyone was attentive but relaxed. I can definitely see coming back, especially to eat on one of the porches. We were on the front patio and it was great. Also, in these Covid time, all the staff had their masks on and when I went into the restaurant there was always someone wiping down a handle or cleaning somehow. They seem to be handling everything appropriately. We'll definitely make the trip up to Ambler to eat at...
Read moreMy husband and I took my brother and his wife to dinner here for his 60th birthday, and the experience exceeded our expectations. Every member of the staff was particularly attentive, especially our server Lindsey. I walked into the main restaurant from the patio and looked a little confused because I was looking for the restroom, and immediately a server said ‘let me show you the way’. I happened to mention to my husband that I definitely needed a new napkin, and then boom someone brought one to me. Not only did the staff respond quickly to requests, but they even anticipated our needs. Unfortunately, the restaurant ran out of two of the main entrées for the prix fixe special, but they told us immediately and even comped a much more expensive entrée for my brother, and I said that was very nice, especially since it was his birthday, and they even remembered it later and brought a lighted candle in his dessert. All of the food was fresh, and delicious, and if I have any complaint at all it’s that the short ribs portion was on the small side, but it was still excellent. The Caesar salad, although a standard menu item, was a stand out because the dressing was perfectly balanced and not over dressed. Both of our desserts: the raspberry donut cheesecake, and the Limoncello marscopone cake were delicious, but I think the limoncello cake was the real winner because it was so light and fresh that it didn’t make me feel full after the large dinner we had. Substantial and interesting beer...
