The two stars is specifically for the customer service. I have always loved Hruska's and have supported them for years. Today's customer service experience has me questioning if that will continue. I pre-ordered a dozen mixed sweet/savory kolaches for pick up this morning. When I got there, there was a large sign that said to check in before taking pick up orders. I waited in line to check in. When I got to the cashier, she impatiently told me I should have gone to the back shelves and picked up my box - almost like I was wasting her time. I also noticed that the kolaches didn't look normal. They had a pink hue to them and being Valentine's Day, I asked if there was food coloring in them. She said yes. I asked if it was all of them. She said she didn't know and turned to the next customer. I asked if there was somewhere online where it mentioned that today's would be different from their standard. She directed me to someone else across the shop. I again asked (now having to speak loudly across the store) if there was anywhere online that indicated that today's kolaches would not be the standard. She said no. I asked if they had any that didn't have food coloring because I was buying these for someone who has a food coloring intolerance. She said there wasn't and just stared at me. I asked if there was a way to know in the future if they would be altering their recipe prior to ordering online. She said no and went back to work. I was disappointed with the overall interaction and their lack of concern that what I ordered isn't what I was getting and there was no apology or alternate solution offered - just blank stares until I finally just left with my kolaches that could no longer be given to the person I bought them for. I feel like the situation could have been handled...
Read moreI have been to Hruska's Kolaches multiple times and never leave disappointed. I felt the need to leave a review now because of Kolache Krave opening just a couple of miles away.
Long story short, Hruska's Kolaches is superior to Kolache Krave and is worth the visit anytime. I have tried most of their flavors and have not found one that I was disappointed with yet.
I prefer to get a bacon, egg, cheese, and jalapeño or the chicken fajita and typically get either a raspberry and cream or a peach and cream. In comparing Hruska's to Kolache Krave, Hruska's savory kolaches are far superior. There is no comparison. Hruska's are full of flavor and are relatively mess free. Kolache Krave's savory ones in contrast are quite messy and lack the extra flavor that Hruska's has. When it comes to the sweet options, I feel like both kolache bakeries are on about the same level.
For my typical meal of one sweet and one savory, it costs $5 and that fills me up for the morning. That same meal at Kolache Krave costs just over $6. So for both the value and the flavor, I would recommend Hruska's Kolaches for your kolache needs in...
Read moreFirst time trying this place today - across the street from our eye doctor. Looking at the place from across the street there was a constant line of people outside, waiting for their turn to get into the joint, anxiously waiting to pick out their breakfast/brunch on a Saturday morning. So, ventured out and came in with less than an hour left before they closed for the day. The place was so cute, yet personal, and offered sweet and savory Kolaches for us to try. For savory we picked: bacon and cheese, bacon, cheese, and jalapeño, sausage and egg. For sweet: raspberry, strawberry, cinnamon, and cream cheese. The savory def satisfied my taste buds far more than the sweet (I’m a more savory kind of gal). Two to three savory is a meal in itself and the prices are decent! This is my fav Kolaches spot. The sweet was also really good! I like more cream cheese on top more than fruit, but a slither of fruit, surrounded by cream cheese is great. Wade, the person who helped me, was super personable and had a lot of input and feedback to give me, which I really...
