We had a phenomenal dining experience at Phat Cats on Saturday night. Our reservation for the bar was at 6:30 and Adam (their longtime host) greeted us and seated us promptly. It’s a busy and lively atmosphere and all of the tables we passed on our way to the bar were full. Their warm and cozy space recently underwent a major renovation to the bar (also full) and it’s gorgeous. While we looked over the wine and cocktail menu we noticed that everyone seated alongside us at the bar seemed to be a regular; Paul and Christina have built a loyal following and it shows whenever you’re in their restaurant. Ashley was our server and she remembered us from our last visit which was two months prior. She’s excellent and takes her time explaining their evolving dinner specials and answers any questions on their menu. We ordered a half-dozen oysters on the half shell and they came with an awesome frozen mignonette. Oysters were very fresh. For dinner I ordered a special (herb-coated baked haddock with savory crème brûlée, mixed greens from a local farm, and an incredibly well-seasoned marinated tomato salad). The haddock was a generous portion: delicately-flavored and gone in a few bites. Their savory crème brûlée is always a favorite. This is one of the few places where I always ask to see the dessert tray (Christina, the co-owner, makes all of their pastries and desserts in-house) and we ordered a slice of decadent chocolate cake with a perfectly bitter espresso ice cream. While we were finishing our meal, Christina came over to introduce herself and to ask how the meal was. It was one of the best meals we’ve had over the past several months. They have a loyal staff for a reason and I like that you never feel rushed or like they’re trying to move you along to seat another party right after you. Tips from a local: make a reservation; consider one of their dinner specials; order a side of the savory crème brûlée with your meal! Thank you Paul, Christina, and your team for a great dining experience. We will...

I went from work with a co-worker after 1-1/2 years! Looked forward to returning since it was local and was a small dining space with comfort tasty food!

I had dined there only 3 times prior in 3 years with 2 other friends for dinner.

In past; We had table reservations, service was very good and food specials & drinks wonderful! This was during a very busy holiday season.

This year/month, July, 2024, booked a reservation with co worker same day………. at the bar was great!

We had two drinks both had an appetizer and one dessert. We didn’t feel rushed. Drinks were great!

Steamers smelled really good and co-worker devoured them with no complaints!

I ordered Calamari and batter was tasty. The Cilantro dip sauce and a mild spice sauce was really good! I would go back again but not in a hurry. 🤔

Little things noticed;

*No lemon with Calamari and presentation in small wire basket…eh😕

*No coaster or napkin was placed under drink and had to ask when wet and puddled. Minor issue.

Noticed couples and few other parties did have coasters or napkins under drinks.

*Although Calamari was very tasty and a small basket of them, they were not crispy, batter a bit soft..😕

*Cordial attendance was received from Bar server however, noticed locals and regulars got more customer service and friendly welcoming smiles. An easy customer service fix!

Food is tasty, specials had in past, were fabulous!

Dining space small and cozy, delightful for meeting with friends, however customer service was not as welcome friendly if not a regular.

That’s what I felt.

Entree’s are worth trying for sure!

5 Star Food and 5 Star Service is what this awesome local restaurant is about! Yes, it is off the beaten path, however what an impressive showcase of mouthwatering plates and big time Cocktails that make this place a go to! Whether you are a nearby local or just driving through Interstate 495 you must checkout this place! Not kidding when they say please make reservations as this place is always packed! For our first experience we took a leap of faith and ventured in with no reservations! WE GOT LUCKY and so glad we did as we waited a short time, sipped on some craft cocktails in a small bar area in the back of the restaurant which faces the kitchen. We were super pleased with the array of apps available and the options of the specials of the night! We went GAGA with the Blue Cheese scrumptious app and the Lobster Ragoons! The dessert is made in house so make sure you leave space for the DELICIOUS carrot cake with a side of house made ice-cream! We cannot wait...

Definitely late to the party on Phat Cats Bistro. Excellent experience. Sat at the bar and Dean took care of us...what a nice guy. Started with martinis, one black and blue and one Grey Goose. Baked Blues as an app, really solid blue cheese flavor and nice crostini - perfect portion for 2. Next a couple spinach salads which had great pear based flavors and the small was a nice portion. App and salads were excellent overall. We had one grilled tenderloin special which was cooked perfectly MR with nice veg and really solid mash. Super tender steak and overall really solid dish. The other meal was the creole seafood stew which was recommended by Dean and what a recommendation. Absolutely a go to dish in my opinion. Great kick with a ton of seafood and sausage. We finished with a piece of homemade carrot cake and it was awesome. Huge portion. Overall, why I waited so long to come to this spot. Definitely will return soon!

Just had dinner for my wife's birthday. Every bite of every thing we had was amazing. We started with a bottle of white french wine (awesome and smooth). Started with great sweet bread and hummus. Had the chicken littles (seasoned breaded chicken strips) fresh and very tasty. For dinner, we had the tender loin, OMG topped with fresh mushrooms and vegetables. On the side, they had mashed potatoes mixed with corn (we will never have mashed potatoes without corn , its yummy) then finished with a fantastic home made carrot cake for my wife and another cake for me and a fresh brewed cup of coffee. What a gem of a place. The waitress and owners are what eateries used to be. They wrote happy birthday with chocolate on the cake plate for my wife. Phat Cats is our new go to place. By the way, everyone working at Phat Cats are local people. Thank you for making this night special. Carol and Ayman.

came up from N.Y.C. with the husband to surprise his mom for a big milestone birthday! the food was incredible and the person who served us was wonderful! (sorry didn't catch her name! but I think she remembered us as we got there late.) first off, I couldn't stop eating the bread and the herb butter! we started off with oysters, mussels and calamari, the husband and I love oysters and these have been better than some of the "best" in New York.. I got the beef tenderloin special, it was delicious, especially the mashed potatoes. as far as I know, everyone else's order was great: chowdah, swordfish, burger and all the drinks. will definitely come back on the next visit!
