Me and my family tried out Pastamore for the first time tonight. As we stepped in we could tell it was understaffed with only 2 people handling the entire front of the house. It took probably 3-5 minutes before we got seated. After that it was probably another 10 before we had a waiter get to us, and while there may have only been 2 people, there were also only 6 tables of guests at the time. The blinking of a lightbulb that was dying and driving us crazy, should have keyed us in to leave.
We ordered our whole meal all entries and drinks at once fearing it might take a while if we delayed our orders, this was right to be feared but it did not help. We ordered wine, a beer, and water for the table, a appetizer Suppli a breaded mozzarella stuffed rice ball. The suppli was the single best thing about the meal it was very good 4/5. It would be probably 20-25 minutes before the before the drinks got there and at least 25 before the wine to my mother. The appetizer probably took 30-35 minutes to arrive, and the entree's 45-50 minutes. We ordered for entrees Saltimbocca with veal, Haddock Mediterraneo, and the Filet Minon.
The best was the Haddock Mediterraneo it was covered with tomato and you could barely see the fish which was mildly overcooked but was good enough that meal was a 3/5. The saltimbocca was flavorless, the veal tough somehow likely overcooked, the cheese covering totally separated from the meat and the pasta sauce was watery 1/5. The Filet minon was atrocious the worst in my life. The meat was fine, just a little overcooked, it looked like it had not even been seared you could have convinced me with ease that it had been sous vide. It was totally lacking in any seasoning, no salt, no pepper, no butter. It was just meat, two butterflied pieces stacked one on the other, lacking in anything like preparation. Good texture though, it was good meat just so immensely poorly executed. The broccoli with the filet had turned to mush and didn't even have the graces of being dolloped in butter it was just boiled broccoli with no flavor boiled to hell and back again. The mushroom risotto that came with that plate had large good pieces of mushroom and that is the best that can be said about the risotto, it was watery, unflavored, unseasoned, & unappetizing 0/5.
We quickly asked for boxes and 7-10 minutes later got them thankfully as we were by then the only people left it only took several minutes...
Read moreI went here this evening with my partner's family for her dad's birthday and this was possibly the worst ""Italian"" (big quotes here) dining experience I've ever had, truly embarrassing really; let's begin
Items ordered: Soupli (2x), Gnocchi in an Alfredo sauce (2x), Shrimp Portofino, pasta with red sauce and veggies
Pros: •Bread came out hot and the oil was tasty
Cons: •Wait staff: This was probably the worst part of the whole experience. Our server, although kind, was a mess. We ordered the Soupli as an appetizer. It never made it to the table, even though our waitress acknowledged the order, wrote it down and exclaimed "oh good choice! It's very good." After taking our order, she seemingly disappeared for 35+ minutes until our food was ready. She never returned to take my drink order either, even though I told her that I'd order one when she returned. Now, I would understand this wait if the place was packed; it was not. There was no wait with only about 4-5 other parties and plenty of wait staff. No apology for the wait either, or for completely blanking our appetizer.
•Food: As I mentioned earlier, first, our soupli never made it to the table. If that wasn't bad enough, 2 out of the 4 dishes weren't even what was ordered. The gnocchi wasn't gnocchi, it was literal tortellini; most likely our waitress' fault again. What wasn't the waitress' fault was the absolute state of the Shrimp Portofino. The "wine sauce" tasted like they just poured the pasta water on top of everything with no seasoning. The shrimp and scallops seemed like they were boiled and absolutely NO seasoning was added after the fact. Not to mention the that there were 2 micromolecules of feta on top. Oh, and we were asked if we wanted cheese, and as you might have guessed, it never came to the table.
Overall: This was probably the worst "Italian" dining experience I've ever had.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS: Please, give these other fantastic local Italian restaurants a try instead of this joke: •Portofino in Merrimack (former owners of this joint, but with actually amazing Italian food) •Picola's...
