On Jonathan Gold's 101 Best LA/OC Restaurants list? Yes, deservedly so!

Deeply anchored in Anaheim's "Little Arabia", Mo Alam's Forn Al Hara specializes in manaeesh. A Levantine olive oil-laden flatbread often consumed in the morning, it's traditionally adorned with zatar, a earthy mixture of thyme, sesame seeds & sumac. With a recommendation from Gold, I came to Forn Al Hara during a strong downpour of rain, ready for a warm flatbread late lunch to eat.

Spinach fatayer- Like spinach empanada, the fatayer dough was soft & easy to bite into. The filling consists of spinach kicked up a notch by lemon & sumac. The brightness from the spinach really popped. I would prefer ordering the fatayer with cheese to offset the sourness, next time.

Zatar w/ cheese manaeesh- Instead of the traditional zatar manaeesh, I chose the zatar w/ cheese, because adding cheese is always a good thing. Surprisingly, when I had my first & subsequent bites, I noticed the manaeesh was a bit dry. Even with the cheese. I expected something pizza-esque, with the gooey cheese, but the zatar w/ cheese was a fine flat bread, which was on the dry side.

Lahem Bel Ajeen w/ cheese- Spiced, ground lamb pizza. That's the most accurate description I can come up with. Soft thin crust, pillow-y soft & not crispy. Perfect to fold in hand. I very much enjoyed eating the lahem bel ajeen w/ cheese.

Service was excellent. The owner & proprietor, Mo Alam, assisted me in choosing which versions of manaeesh & lahem bel ajeen to get, as there are many! Currently it's to-go only, with online ordering available.

Very cheap, very good! While not enamored with the manaeesh, the lahem bel ajeen was substantial & delicious, not to mention very inexpensive. I'm looking forward to trying a cheese boat, safiha & sujuk when I visit next time. Of course, with another lahem bel ajeen. The best part? I can order everything for not a...

WOW! WOW! WOW! This Lebanese restaurant/bakery opens at 8 am for early risers located in Little Arabia. *For newbies, pay attention to how you ENTER and EXIT the car park. As you enter Forn Al Hara establishment the aroma of flat breads in the pizza oven sweeps over you as you’re greeted by the owner with a huge smile. I knew immediately that whatever was cooking/baking it was gonna be delicious. Tbh, all I wanted was baklava and coffee but was introduced to Arabic tea with FRESH mint and cheese kunefe right out of the oven with pistachios and honey. OH M GEE! As I’m thinking to myself, why stop now… I ordered the cheese pastry/pie. Killed it! I was impressed with the kindness the owner exhibited and how the ā€œregularā€customer’s help me order. After I finished my breakfast, my taste buds were still firing so to keep it going I walked away with an assortment of baklava and other pastries to share with family and friends. THANK YOU Forn Al Hara, team, and regular customers for an incredible eating...

I had the most delightful breakfast at this bakery, and I can’t recommend it enough! I ordered a variety of items: zaatar and cheese, egg and cheese, sojjuk and cheese, Labneh, and safiha lahmeh. Every single dish was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and made with such high-quality ingredients. You can really taste the care that goes into the food. What truly made this experience special was the owner of the bakery. He is such a kind and generous person! He offered us tea and sweets, creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. He kept calling me ā€œamo,ā€ which means uncle in Arabic a heartfelt term of connection and respect and made us feel like home. We drive an hour and 30 minutes just to eat at this bakery, and it’s absolutely worth it every time! The environment of the restaurant is lovely and inviting, embodying the best of Arab hospitality. If you’re looking for delicious food and an authentic, welcoming experience, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back!
