Last night around midnight, (April 8) I came to spend time with my partner and our friends who recently welcomed their first baby into the world. It was their first night back and they recommended we go to this place. When we first arrived, everything was great. People were having a good time and we were playing jenga.
Then, we put a $20 bill inside the vending machine. We knew that it wasn't going to give us our change back because it was stated on a note, but we were okay with that. What we were not okay with, was the act of having the vending machine steal our $20 bill and didn't vend anything back.
I asked for assistance with this machine from several employees there and they all told me to ask the bartender as she was the one in charge.
I have been a waitress and bartender for nearly 6 years now and I understand the system, I understand the frustrations, the stress, the aggressive guests, and I have great respect for bartenders and servers.
I also understand that vending machines are owned by third parties, but once again I reiterate that I am familiar with the system at restaurants and bars and I know that we could have been helped, but the bartender dismissed me. She immediately told me that the machine did not accept $20 bills but no where on the machine did it say that, it only said that the machine gives no change. I am certain that I am not the only one who has had this issue and nothing has been done about it before. This place continuously and voluntarily has made the decision to steal from people.
$20 in this economy is precious, and for some it will decide if people eat or not. I am a big tipper because I work in the industry, so if the bartenders weren't negligent I would have tipped those $20 either way. There was no need to steal it from me.
People who steal money from others are the ones who never have enough because money is an energy. So I advise the employees to stay safe and keep their money clean.
The bartenders (male and female) were extremely neglectful of this incident and did not take the time to listen to us. I was respectful from the beginning but when they offered us no help and walked away I became persistent about this issue and my partner was also bluntly ignored and no one reasoned with him.
The bartender in charge of this place should be trained to lead with logic and reasoning and not by her emotions. She is under qualified to be lead.
When we left, we were followed by a kind employee who fixed the situation for us because this employee witnessed the entire incident and agreed that it was a robbery and pocketed money. This employee gave us our $20 back.
This person was the only one there that had morals.
For the sake of this person's safety and job, I will leave this person anonymous.
This place is corrupt and they have implemented tactics to steal from their guests and the bartender knew exactly what she was doing by ignoring my...
Read moreHonestly, the most beautiful thing about juke joint is it is always want you want it to be. An affordable drink? Are you looking to drunkenly conquer a karaoke night with your friends? Looking to meet some locals? Looking to compete with a date in a Jumbo JENGA /Ski Ball /Pool / Darts / Arcade Game Tournament? Looking for a distraction when life is a little too much? Bomb Street Taco Nights? Looking for a community of people to belong in? Don't know what you're looking for? That's okay. You don’t even need to spend a dime to be there (of course, please support this small business but just know that the staff see you as more than a way to make a buck.) My Journey at Juke Started when I was 21 Years old. I'm practically 26 now, and a completely different person. But through every stage of life, the Juke Joint Staff, crowd, and vibe has always felt like home. The drinks are the only affordable drinks around, the staff is quick, engaging, and consistently on top of it. Technically it is a Dive bar, but it does not have any baggage associated with that term. It is not seedy, it is not unkept, the staff is not lacking in compassion, and it is as social or anti-social as you make it. The Juke Joint Staff is made up of especially amazing individuals. The Management is intentional with its actions. Even when patrons are entitled, belligerent, and chaotic the proactive/ confident staff handle the situation quickly and make sure everyone feels safe. Don't overlook juke joint. This local watering hole has more value in it than you would ever believe. Go for a drink, you may just find a sense of belonging. Open from 6 am to 1:30am, so you're always welcome. Juke joint is unmatched. But you'll discover exactly what I...
Read moreIts been a few months since i have been a regular at the infamous juke joint, (was healing a broken ankle) and i was so excited to finally get back to my go to spot! And though juke joint still does have a solid draft selection still, this will no longer be the place that my entourage and I will be spending all our cash for alcohol on. Why? Welll.... WHAT HAPPEND TO THE FUNNY COOL NICE AND WELCOMING BARTENDERDS that you had a few months ago??
The individual working was named Precious, and if thats a nickname....i can think of some better fitting ones. ..but wow....lets start with the fact that it was yet to be busy and she made no to little attempt to say hello or even acknowledge me and my 4 girlfriends who took a seat at the far end of the bar. With her nose in the air, she did walked passed us two or three times, shes got that strut down, i almost felt the need to apologize for breathing the same air. Finally when she takes our drink order, not smiling or trying to engage in any type of conversation (again. It was NOT BUSY) she really made us feel unwelcomed...maybe it was the "im above you" demeanor, the snobish tone of voice or the negative vibe that she projects...but damn ....point taken.....we wont be back. And if we do ever come back....it will be when shes not there. Im a bit confused as to why someone who thinks theyre high and mighty would have a customer service job ..and though she is not ugly, she can definitely use a wake up call to get off her high horse because no one in this world looks THAT GOOD to think its alright to not provide descent service.
Ill miss...
