Good Fellows has been operating in the Anderson Towne Center since 2004. I'm in the area at least one a month and often pass by but had never walked inside until my family and I were in the area at lunch time. It always looked so dark from the outside I assumed it was more of a bar than a restaurant. But it turns out they are open for dinner every day of the week and lunch on the weekends.
We were seated near one of the front windows and there was actually a surprising amount of natural light entering the space. I think that the red walls and dark ceiling make it look much darker from the outside than it truly feels inside.
After placing our orders, we found a few games between our table and the entrance to help pass the time. A couple of arcade games were available, but the Foosball table proved to be the most fun!
One of our kids is a pretty picky eater and unfortunately decided he didn't want pizza. We ended up with the Italian cheese stix with the sauce on the side ($5.99). I would have preferred one of other appetizers such as the pepperoni balls or the veggie skins, but these weren't bad.
My wife and I decided to try a couple of the signature pizza offerings but splitting the pizza in half. Louis's love features olive oil, fresh garlic, artichoke hearts, banana peppers, black olives, and goat cheese. While the BBQ Grippo is topped with BBQ sauce, chicken, bacon, onion, cheese, and BBQ Grippos chips. Both were $10.49 for a 10 inch all the way up to $20.99 for 16 inches.
I love BBQ Grippos and that half was an easy decision for us. I thought the Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce complimented the spicier chip topping really well. This is a must try! Louis's love was much different, a more traditional pizza combination and was also good. Good Fellows has a couple of other unique signature pizzas include lemon pepper chicken and chicken fajita. Overall the food was good, service was quick and friendly, and the value...
Read moreWe visited Good Fellows on a slow Saturday afternoon, our first visit. Started off on an iffy note, as there was no one to greet and seat us. After a couple of minutes I got the attention of the bartender and she told us to sit wherever we wanted. W seated ourselves at a high table for four against the wall. All the walls were covered with sports and gangster movie memorabilia. I counted over 25 TV screens, all featuring golf, baseball, or the prelims for an upcoming UFC event. The menu is extensive, featuring plenty of craft, import, and traditional beers. They have an awesome, fully stocked bar with great bourbon and scotch selections. They have Coke products and tea as well.
We ordered a twelve-inch, three ingredient pizza. There were some yummy appetizers we wanted to try, but that'll be for another visit. The hand tossed crust on the pizza was crispy on the bottom and chewy, with a good bready texture, held up its integrity for the length of our visit. I ordered a Guinness on draft, always a pleasure to find as more and more bars seem to have it only in cans. That is simply not done. We were tempted by the menu description to order the cinnamon sticks for dessert, little more than thin pizza crust with butter and sugar and cinnamon, served with a thick icing on the side. But, v testament to the quality of the pizza crust, these were very tasty. They have sports bar hours, which are very late on weekends. The menu features sandwiches and subs, salad, pasta, a burger, and baked wings, with some gluten free options and vegan choices here and there (a cauliflower crust for a $2 upcharge, for instance). Visit Good Fellows and enjoy...
Read moreDuring sporting events there is a regular who seems to drive customers out of the bar with his overly excited drunken screaming, which is especially fun when he is right behind you. The manager didn't seem to concerned about him, even after voicing my complaint about the man. I also couldn't help but notice that the kitchen seemed to spew out cigarette smoke and a few times I've been there I smelled the distinct Oder of marijuana and couldn't help but notice most of the wait staff were stoned out of their mind. and finally the food I ordered a pizza with chicken that had a funky taste to it. when I asked to see the food container with chicken in it i couldn't help but notice they didn't have a day dot saying when to throw it out, but a few pieces were dried out and the plastic container looked and smelled like it need to be cleaned. And last but for sure not least I noticed that the cook making my pizza out front in the dinning room was in dire need of a hair net and was not using gloves at all when preparing or plating food. Overall this place is going to kill someone with the food they serve especially with all the MSG laced seasoning they drowned every thing in. Makes me wonder if the board of health is getting paid off or just doesn't go into this establishment. My advice stay far away from good fellows. Because if you have a half way attractive girl with you the older and always super drunk owner pops with be more than liberal with his foul language and comments to...
